    Default walmart raising prices

I heard this on the news this morning, that walmart is raising their prices by at least 10%. I guess in every area, food to clothing.

Wow, I cant find deals now, they keep making everything smaller, and my paycheck sure isnt getting any bigger! This is starting to get really hard.

Prices we higher at my Walmart and Aldi's today. My local grocery store moved everything around and added new upright freezers. so I think prices will go up soon there.

There were still deals to be had though. You just have to look harder.

I bought salad dress in for 79 cents a bottle at Aldi's The price even shocked the cashier who checked over the bottles well and decided she was going to buy some.

The grocery store had an unadvertised special on ground beef $1.68 only while supplies lasted.

The other grocery store had chicken quarters in 10 pound bags for 39 cents a pound. Their sign said 10 pounds $3.90 save $6. I guess that means the prices is normally $9.90 for the ten pound bag.

I saw that in the news also. The price increases will be for other retailers as well:

They aren't 10% cheaper than the "regular" stores now. They have raised their prices so much in the last few months compared to the "regular" stores raising theirs that they will end up being either higher or at the least equal to. At the point they are equal to they will lose a ton of customers due to the fact so many hate them now on their principles but only shop there because they WERE cheaper.

    Wow, 10% is a lot.

I'm really reconsidering my commitment to putting money into savings. I think it might be smarter to stock up on food.

~I've been noticing WM increases for a year now. Things at Bed, Bath and Beyond are now the same price as my WM.
It is getting harder. I inflate my budget by at least 10% every year to help cover regular inflation and big, unexpected increases. But I don't think my 10% is going to be enough this year.
So I'm going back to the basics and revisiting all of our major expenses trying to get lower rates to offset the increases.

I've also noticed that my local WM superstores (2 of them) have VERY bare shelves these days. Not much in the way of kitchen linens, appliances, HBA or anything else. This is scary. I guess they're paring down to where they can raise our prices drastically, too.

I've just started couponing again. I'm lucky to have one store which doubles up to 60 cents every day. Now, all I have to do is get cracking on figuring out how the sales run so I can save the biggest amount.

Our Wal Mart has had huge gaps empty on shelves for almost a year. I put it down to the start of food shortage since they deal so much with China.

Publix has had some gaps off and on. Wondering if it's not getting harder and harder for them to get some of the stuff...like maybe they are on a waiting list. Such as the rise in demand in other countries we've been reading about.

My walmart shelves are ultra full in the AM when I shop but the few times I have gone on a weekend afternoon or the evening there are empty spots.

Guess that in just in time delivery for you.

@ Walmart last week, or juice had gone from 3.69 to 3.99. And the tea bags I buy..Walmart family size, wasn't on the shelf & nor a space for them. Many x's the shelves @ mine are empty, too. I thot it was because shoppers were buying other stores loss leaders there...& maybe Walmart was removing the item, so they wouldn't lose money on it..?

Stockpiles are going to be more important for controlling costs. I have bought very few groceries at Walmart the last year because I find that by shopping sales, doubling coupons, and using my senior discount on their brands, I can do just as well at Kroger.

About the only time I go to Walmart now is once a month a so when I have collected a miscellaneous all-over-the-store list of little things because it saves a lot of time compared to going to different stores.

Just encase you haven't heard walmart has changed it's coupon policy. They now pay you for overage. So if your coupon is for 1.00 off and the item is only .97 you get a 3 cent credit .

I only buy free or nearly free things at walmart, otherwise I have no use for them.

I think the smartest shopping is buying the loss leaders and stockpiling. Today I am stopping at Kroger and am stocking up on Powerade and string cheese. That's it.

I have noticed in our Walmart that the some of the isles are wider and more open and that some items or choices are limited for sure.

Like one poster commented it is almost better to put your money in food than the bank.

I was at our Walmart Canada today and got some great deals for stock-up.They had large cans of lysol spray boxed together with a tub of lysol wipes for $3.27.We normally pay more for just the spray.
I have been buying whatever I can now for stockup before the prices do go up.Actually I am getting great deals all over.
