    Cool Argh...

A few months ago I did a lot of decluttering and donated quite a bit to GW. Among the items were some odd serving dishes. One in particular was a gold plate like platter. I never use gold (prefer silver) so I donated the gold one. Wouldn't you know my DDIL asked to borrow this gold platter for a shower she was helping with. Grrr. Long story short, after much seeking for one I ended up buying the same one I had donated. Paid $1.99 for it. LOL

No, I'm not keeping it. If DDIL doesn't want it I'll donate it again.

You're nicer than I am. I would have just said sorry I no longer have it.

That is why I am always hesitant to get rid of things. Was really bad when I was first on my own since I had nothing to begin with. Now I definately have more than enough.

I used to feel that way, but I got real hard-hearted about dumping the excess about ten years ago, and have gotten rid of thousands of items since then. I can count on one hand the things I've regretted getting rid of, even the stuff that was really, really hard to part with like the vintage pressure canner I donated last fall. The freedom of being rid of all that unnecessary crap has been sooooooo worth it! It's like having a ton of weight taken off my back!

Too funny you ended up buying the same platter back again!
