Default An incident at Chase Bank

Well, I needed to get cash unexpectedly so I went to the nearest atm. Of course it was a Chase bank. I am thinking oh no $5 fee. So I go to make a withdrawl and it denies me. Figure I did something wrong and try again, knowing I only requested $40. For some reason the bank spews out $200. I immediately went into the bank to find out what was going wrong. Heck, I wasn't going to walk away with potential money that was not mine. My picture is NOT going to be on the news.

They let me check my bank account online and sure enough it withdrew $200 from my account. No I NEVER withdrawl that type of money from an ATM. So I said OK, but you better check the machine. The lady there said oh, yes, it asks if you want $200. There is a screen that has that amount. Personally I have no idea what she is talking about.

Now I am definately staying away from Chase Bank no matter what the cost. Far as I am concerned that is way to slick. I know I never asked for $200 from that ATM.

    Thanks for letting me rant.

I don't trust any of them and if I could do without one I would. Any way to suck you dry they will.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I think I'd stuff my mattress if I thought I could do without the bank.

I never use ATMs any more. I can get cash with my purchase at all the grocery stores and drugstores around here. So if I need cash I just add $10 onto the grocery bill when I go to check out (paying with debit card). There's no fee from either the store or my bank. And I have gone into Walgreens and bought a $1 bottle of water or 69c pack of gum and got $10-$20 cash with it.

Not surprised. Not a Chase fan. Just be glad you didn't have to call someone on the phone, that you couldn't understand, to straighten that up.

My little hometown bank has that "Fast Cash" screen, too, but it's $40. There are no fees either. A $200 fash cash button is kind of crazy but then I guess there are places that $200 really is just pocket change. . .

Bank of America has that "fast cash" option also.

I opt for getting cash out @ the grocery store or Walgreens also.

I used an ATM at the bank a week ago - for the first time. While I don't plan on making it a habit - I usually do as the as those above stated - I took out $20 and spent that same $20 on dinner out. Perfect - I know that if I have any cash that I will spend it - and if I don't, then DH will!!

My husband and I stopped using ATM's about 15 years ago. We don't have an ATM card or a debit card. It's the best thing we ever did! Back then we use to tap the ATM every couple of days for 10 or 20 dollars and then forget to record it in the check book (yuck). So now we budget the week and if we run out of cash . . . oh well, it'll have to wait.

Usually I can just use my debit card for any purchases or I make a withdrawl that will not cost anything. But this time I wanted to pay someone back immediately since they were being really kind in lending me $20 so I went to the ATM so I could pay them right back. The place I was at did not have an ATM.
