The roaster is just one of those table top ones that you'd bake a small turkey in. I'll double check with DH about the 220 line. I honestly don't know if our entire kitchen is powered by it, or just the appliances. If it's the entire kitchen that means not only the stove and oven, but the dishwasher, dryer, and washer and anything I plug in. Which means I'd need to put the roaster on the dining table and run from there so it won't draw electric off of the 220 line.

In my case the 220 line is only for my electric stove. Not sure how your house is. Isn't the roaster just a regular plug. A 220 line that is connected to our stove is really thick and 3 prong.

    YEOW!!! Ouch............

I have done really good this year......and we had a colder year.

I only had one bill that was over $100 (and that is gas and elec) and the bill is on the way down now.........going slowly. Last month was $91..........but still under $100....that is what I aim for.

Polly --my stove/oven is 220.........so is my dryer, but I unplug that when I am not using it.

Do you unplug your appliances that are 'handy' to do so?

I think so Pam, I haven't taken it out of the box yet. I figure it will end up as the top of the dryer being it's regular home. DH says the dryer is not on the 220 line. The whole thing is rather confusing, I thought electric was just electric, who knew it could be so complicated?

WOW your bill is really cheap!! What state do you live in? Gas & electric; must be warmer than MI!!

Polly I THINK if you have an electric dryer or electric stove you have to have a 220 line, if not then I think you just have a regular line. Ask your dh to be sure of what "I think" is right LOL

Polly, do you have a toaser oven? I cut SOME, don't know how much, but know I did, off ours starting a couple years ago when I started here. Dug it out of the garage. It bakes, toasts etc. It also bakes in 1/4 the time cause it's not heating up a huge unused area. Dosen't heat the house up either. That first year, 2009 I used it as much as possible. Great for pizza bread, subs, cupcakes, roasted seasoned potatoes, garlic bread etc

The city I moved from a few months ago is notorious about having high electric bills. Their power cost is always a lot more than the actual electric used. It's pathetic and one of the reasons I wanted to move from there. The electric bill for February (which has run around $150 for the past 10 years) actually went up to nearly $400.00!!! (And we were doing every conservative measure possible). I was a lucky one. Other people had to pay electric bills of $600.00 and more. Bad thing is that the city refuses to make any type of arrangements. So if you don't have it by your turn off date, you WILL get cut off. It's unbelievable!!! My first electric bill where I live now (7 miles away) was for 34 days and was $124.00 and that's with using the A/C.
