Never would have thunk it...
So, my son texts me from school today. One of his friends approached him wanting to know if it's ok if she comes over to work in the garden with me this year. She wants to learn from start to finish, so she was curious when we'd be starting it.
A lot of his friends who walk by on the way to and from school are always happy to grab a cucumber, few strawberries, and some beans to snack on - but I never would have thought that would turn into an actual desire to garden. I think it's kind of cool.
I also think I am in shock.

I love it! I wish more kids would get interested in gardening.

How cool is that? Wonder how many other lives you are changing? Mahalo for being you!!

Wow, that is cool! It seems like so many young people have no basic skills such as gardening, cooking and sewing. Glad to hear there are some out there willing to learn!

You better start making plans for a bigger garden. Teenagers come in packs. Hungry packs.
That is great. Hope the interest doesn't wane before it is time for weeding. Have fun. Enjoy it. I love working in the garden with my kids.

That is awesome!! I have had in the past some of my sons friends help with the weeding and yes occasional strawberry eating or two also. I think it is neat when the kids find out mom aint so "weird" after all....

I am excited about it. It's nice to see another generation taking an intrest in things like gardening and canning. I'm excited to be part of it even in a small way. We grew up watching our Grandparents do all sorts of things, and never learned much about it at all. Gardening, we did some weeding, watering and harvesting. Mom says it's because they never wanted/expected us to have to do all that. Never dawned on them we'd want to. Makes me sad. But, we're muddeling our way along, none the less.

I think that is great. My boys have to work in our garden but they aren't always crazy about it.
. My oldest ds is growing strawberries this year. He likes them. Not many fruit will he eat. I'm allergic so he has been doing everything on his own. TC
