You know The Onion does not post real news, don't you?

My favourite item on the scroll:

    So true.

    That was fun.

    The Onion is fun.

On the serious side, to answer Nishu's question. Yes I have head reasoning like that. "I need a Starbucks I'm job hunting" Are they wrong or our they right?

People can rationalize/justify anything they want to. People can talk themselves into or out of logic.

That is why debating is so much fun. Two people with two different view defending their side.

Just like in the Onion movie. Logic doesn't ways win a debate. Sometimes Logic is forced aside by force.

That's true, and it really applies whether or not you can afford something. It's okay to just want something sometimes, even if the purchase isn't logical. Sometimes there's no point to justifying something by attempting to provide some kind of sound reasoning. If you want a new car or a new iphone or a new car or an extra large house, then it's okay to say that you just want it. That is the reasoning and that's okay.

And sometimes the reason is not logical but reasonable.

What if the Starbucks coffee is the job searchers "magic feather" what if it is what makes them feel empowered to get the job. Would the expense be justifiable then if it helps them get the job, even if they can't afford it then? I think that could be debated both ways pro and con.

By the way, does Kinkos have computers to use? We don't have a Kinkos.

I guess people are seeing a lot of what I'm seeing out my way. One of our local grocery stores has a living room/dining room of sorts, complete with fireplace and wireless access. You don't have to buy coffee, in fact, you can only get coffee till 3 in the afternoon. It does not matter what time of the day you go in there it's packed. Everyone, or almost everyone's got a Mac. They are job hunting, no internet I'm guessing. There's a waiting line at our local library, kids can't even get in to use the computers for school work. My friend was complaining about it because her son has been late with 2 assignments because of the job hunters hogging the library computers, and each person gets a time limit because so many people want to use the computers. He does not get enough time to complete his projects when it's his turn. The McDonald's in the next town is the same way, packed for the free internet. I was not aware so many had Macs.

I feel sorry for your friend's son Could he use the school computers? Our school allows all children to come in before school or stay after school to use the computers to finish assignments.

My library is nice. They have a separate set of computers for the children and for adults. They also wave the time limit if you are filling out an application on line. Our library also pointed out that has wifi and you can bring your own devices that are wifi excessable to use in and around the library.

If you want coffee for free head over to the farm and ranch store free coffee all day every day ( popcorn on weekends) LOL

Their little skit made me chuckle. Sometimes you just have to laugh at difficult situations, and a lot of people are currently doing their best to cope with tough situations.

Honestly, if my spouse were to lose his job tomorrow, he'd probably spend a bit of time with the unemployed crew, hanging out at the coffee shop making use of the free wi-fi on *gasp* our MacBook. The MacBook that was purchased with cash while he was employed full-time. And it wouldn't bother me for a second. I would be far more alarmed if he was hiding out at home.

Well. My Dh works from home and the laptop belongs to the co. When he lost his job he had an old laptop but if he didn't have a computer we would have charged one. He needs the computer to fill out resumes'. He sent out 1000 to get his last job. I can't imagine trying to do that at the public library. Interested parties initially e-mail back. And the library has no printer.
to me spend $800. or less to get a $50,000 or up job-worth it everyday.

Some people in this country have confused the Unemployed (who worked, some for many, many years, and lost their jobs through no fault of their own) with Welfare Recips for some reason.

My 15 year old computer bit the dust a few months ago and I "had" to buy a new laptop to be able to claim unemployment benefits and job hunt.

Now the Unemployed certainly don't "need" coffee from Starbucks and neither do Welfare Recips come to think of it.

Don't forget, a lot of those "job hunters" own homes and when (and if) they find a new job will be paying "School Taxes" so your friend's son can get a Free Education She shouldn't complain so much.
