    Default Squirrel at church

Somethings just aren't funny without shared common knowledge.

Last Sunday it was announced that there had been a squirrel in the church. I started laughing and said "Isn't there a song about that?"

Blank stares and I think there were a few crickets chirping in the silence.

They dismissed my comment and finished with the details of how the squirrel was removed.

Apparently they did not know this song

Came home and shared the story with Hubby who burst out in laughter.

Yep, sometimes you have to have a shared common knowledge to get the joke.

My grandparents had a lot of Ray Stevens' videos. My brothers and I loved this guy's music.

How could no one know that? My first thought was to ask you if you were in Mississippi! And did you have a Sister Bertha

I really don't know how they didn't know it.

But from the strange reaction I got they obviously didn't know it.

Educated a few by sending them the link to the song.

That is what I thought the thread was about... The Ray Stevens song... In a twisted way, it is even funnier because your church had a squirrel in it.
