Corned Beef
Has anyone seen the price of corned beef lately? You know, the slab of slimy beef you boil with the seasoning packet. It's around $10 a pound here! What I used to get for about $7 is now $20! Sheesh! No more of that stuff for us!

I am glad I am not the only one that noticed it!! I used to love those but can;t afford to pay all that anymore either. Oh well, maybe one day again.

We had some for dinner tonight. We roasted it with a can of beer outside on the fire pit we built this weekend. As Guy on DDD would say " It was crazy good".
I bought 3 or 4 packages of corned beef before St. Patrick's Day for about $1.30lb. I stuck a few in the freezer for later.
The prices you mentioned are insane!

Oh yeah, unless you buy it in March the price is real high. I wait for the sales and then stick several in the freezer for the rest of the year. They last forever.

WHOA! That's a LOT!
We picked some up during St. Patrick's... Was like $3/lb. Just cooked one yesterday... Still have another in the freezer.
Hope you can find some better deals soon!!Kace - married to Dh 13 years

It's seasonal IMHO. I got 4 at Kroger/Meijers? a $1.99. It was limit 2 but that never stopped me. I just went 2x.
And FYI I cook it on a cookie rack inside a covered casserole dish. Let it cool and trim the heck out of the fat. As fare as the spices-nope. 300 deg. at least 2 hrs. SOOO much less fatty.

Why not make your own? It's just brisket. Google for some recipes. I haven't tried to DIY them yet, but it's on my radar.
I also picked up several in March. Flats were $1.39 here and tips were $1.69. I always make it in the Crock-Pot.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
