Default My friend's mom lost her fight.

3 hours ago at 11.10 on Tuesday May 17th, my friend's mom closed her eyes for the last time.
This is the message from my friend.

"She went into Kidney failure yesterday and the meds she was on were a last resort, her heart couldn't work hard enough, we were going to bring her home with hospice and keep her comfortable but she was in pain from the port that was draining the lung. It failed, and the fluid went to the other lung. She filled with fluid. They did a procedure today to unclog the port and that may have cause a clot, don't know.

We were there 13 hours today. We planned on bringing her home tomorrow with hospice and morphine. We all went home at 9 and the nurse sitting with her said it happens often.

The patient waits until everyone leaves and then just goes to sleep. We got the call her heart was failing, rushed to hospital and missed it by 4 minutes.

At 11:10 this evening, I lost my best friend, my mentor, my mother. She closed her eyes for the last time as the angels carried her to heaven. I love you Mother.

I am devastated, numb, broken hearted. I just got back from hospital and put my Dad to bed."

While sad, it sounds like she lived a beautiful, fulfilling life and that she was deeply loved and admired by her family. That is a remarkable life and an inspiration to all that knew her and came to know about her through your sharing. Now she is with her God and people she loved in her past. I pray for healing for her family still here on this earth, and I celebrate her arrival in Heaven.

Dutchie, you sound so sad, and I'm sorry for you, and your friend, & her family. I've always heard that when you lose your mom, you lose your childhood along with her. I didn't quite know what it meant till I lost my own.

Your friendship is going to mean the world to your friend right now. I'm sure you'll be right there for her. Believe me...... she'll never forget it, and will love you all the more for it!

    Hugs!!

Default Part of my friend's mom's obituary

"Mary Lou 82, was born in Lancaster on Cabbage Hill. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 60 years.
She was a R.N. inspecting nursing homes for the Commonwealth of PA. She graduated in 1946 from Sacred Heart Academy and 1949 from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, both of Lancaster.
She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church where she also sang in the choir and was an active volunteer, past President of the Catholic Guild, Knights of Columbus Council #869 Women's Auxiliary.
She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, painting with oils and acrylics, traveling, and spending time with her 13 grandchildren."

I have put a photo of Mary-Lou on this album since I have no idea how to put it in the post (if anyone can help?).

I have to say that I do feel extremely sad.
Yesterday I was crying off and on for most of the day. I was crying at ANYTHING and nothing. I was on facebook IM with my friend yesterday morning and the overwhelming sadness she was feeling came hurtling over the computer. We were both crying as we were writing.
She has lost an amazing mom and friend.

I still have both my parents and my dh also has both his parents (they are all in their 80's).
I dread losing my mom. It seems that the older I become, the closer we become.
