Default No meat sale for holiday weekend

Just checked my sales papers and there is no meat on sale. Maybe the stores figure we will buy it anyway. But pepsi and junk is on sale lol

Same here in North Florida. I think the stores do that intentionally knowing people will still buy meat to grill out. Hopefully they will make up for it next week with a great sale

When I worked in the meat market, none of our suppliers would give us deals 2 weeks before a major holiday. Supply was always short for BBQ items so there was no need to discount them.

Our Price Chopper has chicken drums & thighs for 99c/lb and watermelon on sale for $3.89 each.

Aldi also had a lot of fresh produce for cheap. I got strawberries, blueberries, cherries, apples, tomatoes, zucchini, and potatoes

GFC had boneless chicken breast $8.99/5# bag and steak burgers $10.99 for 5#. But if you spent $50. you got $5. off.
Johnsonville Brats were on sale too. $11.99 which made them $2.99 a pkg.-same price as Krogers own. They had italian sausage and brats. Also 1/2 gall. dill spears $2.99.

We have 4 grocery stores out here, one of them is struggling to stay afloat. The one that is struggling is the only one that has good sales this week. I went yesterday and they were packed, the cashier said it's been like that all day. She was thrilled when I said, "well you guys have the best sales flyer this week" and another customer in line emphatically agreed. (Everyone there has been worried about the store going under and with hardly any jobs out here you can't just go pick up work at another store)

    They had

    Pork ribs $1.49 lb.
    OM hot dogs .99 lb.
    Rib Eye $5.99 lb
    London broil $1.99

Then the other kinds of picnic stuff

    Corn 12 ears for $1.98
    Watermelon $2.99 each
    Pepsi 69 cent a bottle
    BBQ sauce 99 cents

and few other really good deals with produce and rolls

Everything was limited in the amounts you could get, but I don't think anyone minded the small amounts because we've just been dying to see a decent sale out here and this store sure pulled a rabbit out of the hat. I hope this sale helps them to hang on and stay afloat.

Kroger's advertised meat specials were pretty good, but the meat markdowns were terrific:

Hormel mesquite pork tenderloin, 27 oz. for $3.

Beef tenderloin marked down to $6/lb. Original price $13.50/lb. I bought one for $18 that was originally priced at $41.

Chicken thighs marked down to $.79/lb

So, we'll be grilling pork tenderloin, beef tenderloin, and chicken thighs this weekend. Plus some t-bones that I took down from the freezer (also bought on markdown).

Same here, no good meat sales this week. (glad we stocked the freezer in early May with 3.99/# t-bone and porterhouse) We'll also get same sale after August. . . well, so far. Got greatlooking corn 1.99/12 yesterday, as well as sale condiments (with coupons - less than .50 each!).
