If you know of people who are willing to donate airline points, the airlines will usually work with you. A couple of years ago, some friends needed to get to CA and my husband donated his points and then people at his work threw in theirs, too (I think it was American Airlines) and the FF Customer Service rep helped gather up the points and then issued the tickets. Working directly with an airline is definitely the way to go - I would find the one that has the cheapest/most regular flights between OR and TX so you can also be building points with the purchased tickets.

My mom just finished every-3-week chemo and I know that with treatments like that, it is sort of an in-between area because no one wants to relocate just for 1 or 2 days every few weeks but with my mom, the intensity of the meds was such that relocating, for me, was the way to go. As you get into it, things will make themselves clear.

The Social Worker at the TX hospital wold be a key resource for you, as well as the admin at the local Ronald MacDonald house. Also - the chaplain of the TX hospital. Another thing to check is people who have hotel points - chains like Hilton (HiltonHonors) will sometimes allow people to donate those points so that you all can have a place to stay - on occasion, these points can be redeemed for plane tickets.

Good luck! I will be praying for y'all.
