Amazing
The last two weeks we have had a deer hanging around the front yard. Seeing deer isn't unusual here but she was always by herself. Well not five minutes ago she just gave birth to twins not 10 feet from the front door. Amazing and wonderful!!

Did she take off away from the house with them, or are they still there?______

She bent down, gave birth, gave them a lick and all were gone into the bush in minutes. If only it was that easy for us!!

What a cool experience, DC! That's why we live where we do!
Our bear alarm keeps going off here right now, but so far we haven't seen anything. At least I hope it's a bear and not a mountain lion.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

They came back. All of them. The babies were running around the yard like bambi playing. It was so cute. Now one fawn is sleeping in the tall grass behind the house and the Mother and other fawn went into the bush. DH said the fawn will stay there until the Mother comes back. Now I am worried about the little one all by himself.
DH was able to shoot some footage with the video camera but the camera wouldn't work through the window as good.

What a great experience for you to witness. I wonder if the sleeping baby is ok...I'm surprised the mother left it and didn't wake it to take with her. Is that normal?

Apparently it is normal. Fawn are born with no scent. It protects them from predators. With the Mother leaving, she is drawing her scent away from the fawns so they will be safe. It was cute as all I could see was his little ears over the grass once in a while. Amazing they know what to do so young.
