I needed tent pegs for my canopy so I went in to Canadian Tire. I was waiting for hubby to come in so youngest and I were looking around. Since it's back to school time, I like to see what the different stores have. I found 3/300 page notebooks for $1.00 each ($5.99 usually) highlighter $1.50/4 usually $6.99, tabs for the highlighter pen I have at home 250 tabs for 25 cents!(I picked up 2) They also had pencil cases for 25 cents, but I had picked up a bunch last year for cheap.

Last week I was able to shock a couple people when I told them how much we spent on our vacation because I was able to use coupons and codes to pay for some of it. Then while we were there, I used coupons I had found online to pay for food while we were there!

I have a friend who comes by once a week to see what "Palmer special's" we have found that week!! lol

Early this morning I bought material at Fabric.com called Michael Miller Springtime in Paris Multi. It was marked down by 15% and I went through ebates.com for 4% cash back and found a 15% off $40 coupon at retailmenot.com.

I needed yardage to make curtains for my dressing area window and closet doors.

We went to the second hand store to get a George Foreman grill, and it happened to be 50% off day. Picked up 2 bags full of clothes, some curtains and the GF grill for 20.00

My last 3 that come to mind are:
    1. My neighbor mentioned to me a month or so ago that she was looking at selling her frontloading washing machine she bought a year ago for $800 because she wanted a toploader back (she kept forgetting to get clothes out of it which of course left her clothes smelling musty) . Wouldn't you know it my frontloader I've had 10+ years gave out 4 days ago and she sold me hers for $300 :-D I'll take the $500 discount for her using it for around a year.

2.A couple months ago I went to a neighboring state to visit my cousin for his daughter's graduation (my avatar pic was taken on that same trip). I was driving home with my mom and kids when I saw a Goodwill and of course we stopped. I scored my daughter a $100 Banana Republic Dress that I now have to fight her to take off to wash for $3. I got tons of other stuff there as well but that dress sticks out the most.

3.I run 10 to 20 miles a week and had been looking for a treadmill for cold/rainy days when I didn't want to pack up and go to my local YMCA. Of course I didn't want to pay full price. My neighbor that lives behind me was loading things up to take to sell at a yard sale when he mentioned he had one they had used twice in 2 years and then used as a clothing rack. It inclined, folded up for storage and was just generally very nice. He'd paid around $500 for it. He sold it to me for $25 :-D

We are debt free besides our house payment!!!

I wanted to make a sweet treat for DH and I for supper tonight. But because we only had our organic (re: expensive!) butter, I knew cookies and such was out. So I dug out an old recipe for an apple cinnamon cake that didn't call for butter, but 1.5 cups oil (!!!). I don't make it very often, but today, it was the much more frugal choice. So I used cheap oil and some older apples that were on their way out, and made a delicious cake! Yum!

You can sub unsweetened applesauce in cakes, 1:1. IMO it makes a better cake because the texture is less crumbly. And of course it's much healthier than using oil, too.

I needed fabric for a winter purse and found something really pretty at fabric.com.

It was on sale @ 40% discount and I went through ebates.com for 4% cash back and found a coupon for 10% off "minky" fabrics @ retailmenot.com. So, for $11.50 plus 4% back soon from ebates, I have a new winter purse.
