We are 100% vested into the company 401K. The way I understand it we can take all the money out without paying it back, but we will have hefty penalties and taxes.
Those penalties and taxes will kill you. Isn't it upwards of 30 or 40%? I'd roll the money into an IRA and not touch it if at all possible.

It is great that you are trying to figure out a plan to be able to financially make it through until your husband finds another job. Think about purchasing some tomato plants and other veggies that can be grown in pots. This will also help you save some money.

If you can remember what the children may need as far as winter clothing write it down. Maybe someone will need a winter coat or boots. Now is the best time to shop for winter clothing at the thrift stores since the prices will be lower. Better to purchase now then to worry about it if your husband does not have a job then.

Make up a list of all the free activities in your area. This will help keep the summer activities low cost.

Writint it down does help keep me sane!

My DH does have an IRA account at the local bank, we will look into our options and decide.

When I have to due to emergency take money from my simple IRA I ask that they take extra out for my taxes and penalties. I have to take money out frequently during the year, so i do the above.

You might want to check with your local library to make sure they don't have a time limit on patrons for computer usage. Ours does. Fifteen minutes tops. You book the computer ahead of time.

Not much more to add other than that. These people have given you good advice.

I friend of my son does online schooling, they provide a computer etc. it is all free. I was googling and check out this website: K12 | Online Public School, Online High School, Online Private School, Homeschooling, and Online Courses options it has free online schooling, plus books, and can help toward internet (I think that is what it said) it helps with a computer, and you can talk to a teacher via phone, internet or in face. Hope this helps you.

    that's confusing.

if the company is shutting down, how can she not be sure if he's losing his job?

I'm amazed that you were already getting food stamps while your hubby had 2 jobs!! What state are you in???

good luck. I'm sure you'll do great!

We have 4 children ages 8 through 2 is what helps alot to be able to qualify for food stamps. My DH works for 3 ambulance services PLUS his job. Wisconsin is the state. One ambulance service is not much $ at all, one is like 50$+ a month and one is like 200+ a month.

The company itself is not shutting down that we know of. But a branch of it, a part of it Is shutting down, the part my DH manages and takes care of. They did ask him if he would be willing to work in the plant part, and I think he would be for the most part, but there are not any job openings that I know of, and I dont know if there would be any openings right when his other job quits?

Its all so confusing, because they wont tell us whether we have to move out of the house or if we can stay in it or anything. My problem is that we are going to be left hanging and then at the last moment, we have to find a house in 30 days to rent AND another job immedietly.

But I think DH could get Unemployment for a little bit if we had to.

    Updating this thread!!!!!!!!!!!

My Dh lost his job TODAY!!!!!!!!!! He recieved his last paycheck from that company that we are aware of!!!!

We have until May 15th to get out of the house....

We found another house to live in, should we grab it up, even tho DH has not found another main source of income?

It is in the right town (so DH can take maximum ambulance duty and make more money). It is the right size (3 bedroom) It is 600 per month...

It doesnt have much yard, but we can work with that.... We are grasping at straws here...My father sent us 600 to help out, so we do have the money to pay the security deposit and first months rent, but DH only has the ambulance work as a job right now.

    he started applying for Unemployment...
