    Default Favorite scary movie?

    I'm currently on a scary movie jag. Last night I watched Mothman Prophecies. However, I've seen it too many times to get very spooked by it any more.

    What are your favorite scary movies?

    Any suggestions on psychologically scary movies? - not bloody, gory, icky ones please!

    Thanks :-)

    I'm not a big fan of horror films but have you seen the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Psychologically scary but not nearly as much gore as one would think. Plus, it's based on a true story.
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference

    I could go on forever. I love scary movies.

    An oldy but goody that has edge-of-seat moments:

    [ame="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0278504/"]Insomnia (2002) - IMDb@@AMEPARAM@@http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMzA5NTkxNTIyNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDkzMjAyMQ@@._V1._SX96_SY140_.jpg@@AMEPARAM@@BMzA5NTkxNTIyNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDkzMjAyMQ@@@@AMEPARAM@@SX96@@AMEPARAM@@SY140[/ame] (Insomnia, 2002 version)

    Do you want more jump-out-from-behind-the-tree ones?

    Any of the Halloween's, and if its too gory just look away but what I like about Halloween's particularly the older ones is that they would stop the scene RIGHT as the axe is coming down, not showing the actual situation.

    I'd stay away from the Friday 13ths, those are mostly chop-up ones.

    Or drama-type where you have to follow a story closely? Some dramas can have a good thrill feeling due to the story and situation as it all comes to a close at the end.

    Ok I'll stop here and let others chime in. I love, love my scary movies.

    But Saw movies are gory, if she doesn't like gore I don't think she's going to like Saw's. I can't watch them anymore, they got too graphic on me.

    Yay! I love scary movies too...minus the gore.

    I like a lot of the older movies. Carnival of Souls is awesome and super creepy. Best part-its in the public domain, so it can be found easily online for free.

    With my paranormal investigation interests, I prefer movies that are more "ghosty" in their scariness, so a few I really like:

    1. Carnival of Souls (again)
    2. The Messengers
    3. Wicked Little Things
    4. The Grave Dancers
    5. The Orphanage
    6. Insidious
    7. Horror Hotel (another old, public domain movie)
    Credits Earned Toward Graduation 6/76

    Paranormal researcher, investigator, author, and tour guide. Boo!

    Mute Witness
    In the Mouth of Madness
    The Blair Witch Project
    Cabin Fever - some gore, but not overwhelming
    Night of the Living Dead(1968 version)
    The Shining(1980 version)
    Psycho(1960 version)
    Alice by Jan Svankmajer (creepy version of Alice in Wonderland)

    Depends on the scary movie... there are scary movies that make you laugh ... mentally scary movies ... scary movies that just gross you out *lol*

    Lets see A & E had a series last fall Walking Dead ( zombies obviously) it was gory, but just interestingly filmed

    House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects both directed by Rob Zombie .. are both slightly off kilter blattent attempts to stab at our desensitized brains

    I for the life of me can't remember the name of the movie .. but the one where the boy ( the kid from disney's hole's
    movie ) was put on house arrest and realized that his neighbor was a murder ... that one was pretty interesting
    I love ghost scary movies ... ones that make you jump ... Grr i am horrible with movie Names .. I normally can play them over in my head before I remember their names *lol*
