Scary!! First thought was that you are way too young!! Sending prayers and aloha your way. Please stay in touch!!

I am glad you are alright!
Dad had this last year and is just hitting the end stage of his full recovery - as in back to his 'pre stroke' self. It has taken him just over a year and he's prob in the 90th percentile.
My advice to you, take help wherever you can get it: opening things, doing things that you never used to need help for - regardless of how frustrated you are and if possible/provided - do the physiotherapy exercises prescribed. Have patience and know that things will resume to how they were pre-stroke but will take time.
The therapist also suggested these things for dad to do along with his exercises - that he neglected to do: crosswords, souduku, knitting, using the computer (if he did) - all of these things engage that side of the brain that was affected by the stroke and will help it re-learn how to map itself so you can get back to functioning.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.2012: The Year Of The Purge!
