I just felt this in my bones all these years-now I feel vindicated! Monsanto is a company to be avoided at all costs, but they have become so huge, devious, and manipulative that it is almost impossible.

    Thanks for posting this.

There's also a link, I've lost, about them genetically engineering seeds also...and not to the good...I'll have to look for it.

We avoid Monsanto if at all possible. They are so unbelievably evil. I read an article a couple years back where they sold GM seeds to impoverished indian (in India) farmers on a loan basis (the farmers would repay Monsanto with the proceeds from the crop). only something was wrong with the seeds and they did not produce anything. Even though the seeds were bad & it was Monsanto's fault, they refused to forgive the loans and many of the farmers ended up committing suicide because of the enormous debt they were under. Why am I not surprised they'd risk birth defects as long as they could make a buck?

    Monsanto is the devil.

This company's practices and the way they have tried to have a monopoly on seeds in the US is the number one reason I have begun earnestly gardening and learning to save seeds.

I think their executives have special reservations for a room in Hell.

We purchased a 640 acre farm business a few years back. Informative. Would you like to know why these Monsanto crops are being planted? Go to Farm Subsidy Database. You will see the subsidies given for planting certain crops. It is very lucrative for farm corporations. The seeds are called Terminator seeds. You cannot save the seeds from that type of Monsanto plant. They cannot reproduce. There are other types. Hmmmmmmmm. Wonder if certain kinds of Monsanto crops will cross pollinate with the non GMO plants............Wanted to add also that the crops that are planted are Roundup Ready. The insecticide is in the seed. The corn looks like an unpopped cinnamon candy corn kernel. Want to edit... my DH said that the chemical in the corn will allow them to spray around it and kill weeds, but not the corn.I got stuck putting this out in a neighbors personal garden and made my stomach hurt thinking about it. Can't say anything- everyone farms around here in that fashion.

Annymoll - that is really interesting. I was poking around on their website and wondered what it meant that the seeds were "Roundup Ready". What a chemistry project they are turning our food into!

If you all will forgive a bizarre flight of fantasy:

If any of you have watched The Terminator movies, you have read how computers take over and nearly destroy the world. The company responsible is Cyberdyne.

Fast forward to our world today. The company is Monsanto. The world has become inundated with plants that are one-hit wonders. If no more seeds were available, each crop would be the last. Monsanto has tried to be in charge of all of the seeds sold in North America - this is fact. They give so much money to the politicians that they can do nearly anything they want. What if they succeeded and then Monsanto went out of business? If all seeds were self terminating and no more seeds were available, then we'd be DONE.

Maybe Monsanto will be the cause of the end of the world as we know it. This SHOULD be science fiction but it isn't.

My computer that crashed had bookmarks on your wondering Daisy. I had several Monsanto theory pages marked...one in particular dealt with exactly with what you're describing with " supposed " evidence.
I was wondering if anyone else had read any of this or thought the same.
Annymoll, thanks for the info...hadn't heard of this one..

There is a large discussion lately about the correlation between the chemicals in these products, and the rise in cases of ASD. It helps to look at the ingredients in these products, then do cross-referencing to make sure that the ingredient is "non carcinogenic", and does not demonstrate developmental or reproductive toxicity. Items like fluroxypyr and aminopyralid demonstrate such characteristics.

Make sure that you reference the ingredients against what is found in the United States Office of Prevention, Pesticides
Environmental Protection and Toxic Substances Agency's website. Generally, you can Google for it and it'll bring up the website.

The incidence of the increase in cases of ASD over the years, in conjunction with the increased use of foreign plant control products, is ironic in of itself. It also coincides with the contaminates found within immunizations. This is why I stand by my theory of foreign metal poisoning in the base of the brain and its contribution to developmental disabilities like ASD. After all of the research I've looked into, it's extremely coincidental.

Monsanto has put many farmers through legal hell with their "patented seeds". Some farmers have been (by means of nature) cross pollinated with their crops. This has caused the farmers without the monsanto seed crops to legally prove that they aren't "stealing patents".

    Horrible, absolutely uncalled for.
    It is what it is.

I wanted to sell my eggs to a local health food store, a short while back. She quizzed me a lot about how I fed my birds. Just regular feed I told her. She wanted me to feed strictly organic feed. I told her, no way could I afford to feed that way. About 2x the price of regular feed. I get $ 3 a dz now at the market, and would have to charge $ 6. I don't thing that would work. Also to sell eggs as organic, one has to get certified. I can't afford that process to do so.

This I found real interesting. My niece wanted chicks this spring. I got her 6 and ended up with 6 myself. My SIL feeds the birds organic feed. Her birds are bigger than mine. All from the same age group. She is new to chickens, and I have some background. Most recent is 2 yrs of having our own birds. So I am almost 100 % sure that organic grain is the way to go. I just wish the price was lower.

That is really interesting. How do the eggs produced by your niece's chickens compare? Are they similar in size and number laid?

Just a thought - would it be worthwhile (and do you have space) to grow your own grain? That might be an affordable way to go organic even if you don't get certified. And it gets you one more step towards personal sustainability.
