Not even close to retirement age but I'm really enjoying reading the advice in this thread. Thanks for all who shared their wisdom. I'm old enough now to actually HEAR it. Wish I could of heard better in my 20s.
Totally debt free since January 2011.
Fully funded Emergency Fund complete December 12, 2011! Yeah!

I think the key advice coming out of this thread is to plan. And save. We can't predict the future, but we can do our best now to not have unpleasant surprises. Or at least not as many unpleasant surprises!!! I, too, thank you all for sharing your experiences.

1. Keep on writing.
2. Get some balance in my life.
3. Lose weight. Hopefully 5# this year. (9.5 pounds right now! Yay, Me!!)
