I think she had the baby taken away because she sought help from a agency that demanded weaning and she continued in "defiance". They deemed her mentally unfit.

I see agencies often go to strange extremes to order to help families in distress. The article ends with "Meanwhile, the publicity has brought to light other stories of abuse by IMMF"

I think there is more to the story that just nursing a 15 month old and co sleeping.

I nursed my first for 15 months and the people around me thought I had gone loopy that I should have weaned him ages ago. We lived somewhere else with my second and nursed her until she was 22 months ( she self weaned the same time she potty trained herself) everyone thought I was loppy for stopping so soon until they learned she had self weaned

My poor abused children. Just a note, WHO recs say nurse AT LEAST two years.

While I do believe that everyone should be allowed to parent as they choose - whether that's extended nursing or co-sleeping or whatever - that website really just gives you enough snippet of a story to sensationalize it. I read it on a regular basis the same way you get that guilty pleasure from reading the celeb mags in the grocery store. So it's probably blown out of proportion in the write-up.
