I just want to cry
My babies are gone!
We have a cardinal nest in the big bush right in front of the livingroom window. It's been there 10-12 days and we've been watching the mama cardinal tending her eggs all week. Had the blinds closed so as not to scare her, and have just been peeking once or twice a day, waiting for them to hatch. They should have hatched this Wednesday.
Well, late yesterday I realized she had not been on her nest most of the afternoon, so we opened the blinds for a closer look.... and the eggs are all gone! I went outside and looked, not a sign of them!
I don't know what got them, we don't have big snakes here, and I didn't hear a peep out of the birds yesterday. There would have been a ruckus if something had climbed into the bush and attacked her.
I'm just so sad, thinking about the little baby birds that didn't hatch.Use it up, Wear it out,

what a bummer. Sorry for your loss. That would have been really nice to watch them grow up.
