Default Thanks to whomever mentioned unbundling to save!

I cant remember who posted it about un-bundling your services and negotiation a better deal but thanks! I unbundled last week and called Dish network about the offer from Direct today. I got $10 off a month for 24 months with no contract.

I called the phone co to inquire about pure broadband and dropping the home phone. I havent made up my mind on that yet but they doubled my internet speed free of charge!

Just ensure that your area (ie your home) is able to receive the double speed. They may offer it to you 'for free' and sounds all fine and dandy but its of no use if its going not actually going to get to your house.

Had a friend that lived on the cusp of the service area and the rep guaranteed her triple the speed, if she upgraded & locked into a contract. She figured, why not - long run will be cheaper. When her boyfriend moved in 2 months after she accepted the agreement, he needed high speed for work and he called around and discovered that the provider was not able to provide 3x the old speed. He quickly challenged the provider for both him his gf and now have a huge discount for the next 2 years (duration of contact)

    BTW: Great savings for unbundling.

Yep he double checked for me. No contract either so all is well! If we do the purebroad band eventually the speed will double again and that will have a 1 year contract.

I've been thinking about dropping the land line and going with broadband. But I'm confused...wouldn't you call your net company instead of phone company? I dropped my Dish down last week. Didn't think I would do it, but I did.

AT&T cable has come to our neighborhood and it's so not cheaper!! I've checked a few times. A guy knocked on my door the other day and I told him what I have and what we pay through AT&T with our cell phones and Dish. I told him if you can get it cheaper, than come back and talk to me. Never seen him again. LOL

Our phone co ( Centurytel) is the same as our dsl internet company. We are in an area with only one choice for both. No wireless or cable internet available out this far.
