Hiding valuables in your house
This is a bit of a public service announcement for people who hide their jewellery and/or other valuables in their house. Write down where you put things!! If you are planning on moving, clear out your hiding places and pack those things early in the process. You might forget about them in the last minute chaos, especially if they have been hidden away for years.
I found a small box today that probably means a great deal to the previous owners. They were lucky though, because I happened to know where they moved and was able to contact them to give it back. Not everyone is that lucky, it's not always easy to find people after they move.

Good idea!! Mahalo!!
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I'm curious - what did you find?
I 'lost' all the cups in my china service when we moved in 1991. Drove me nuts. One day ( 15 years later) I'm in the local furniture store, and unbeknownst to me, the saleslady was the purchaser of that old house. When we finally figured it out- she said "Hey, did you leave some china cups behind?" She kept them all those years.

It was antique jewellery, including a ladies brooch with a photo of a WWI or II soldier set in the back (so the picture would be facing the wearer). I have to confess that I opened the box about a dozen times to look at the pin
. I couldn't help myself, it was fascinating. It would have broken my heart to lose something like that.
