Yeah sure, this is all just a massive conspiracy by all the media outlets in every country. sorry, but this certainly is not the way. Just like families must make major cutbacks that hurt when the finances are just not there anymore, so to must states and countries when the spending becomes unsustainable and out of control.

Cities in the south are having trouble funding pensions, a small town 10 miles from me have no funds the retired police and fire fighters stopped getting checks last year. I'm sorry if you promise a pension should you not put that money in the bank no they put it in the Stock Market which is very risky and 2008 happened. Now the Repub state Governors are at war with the unions, these are your teachers, police and fire fighters, people that teach and protect you. 72,000 a year show me that paycheck. The police chief only makes 100,000 if he's lucky.

Being away from any news media for a while - I totally missed all of this. What a mess and possibly a portent of things to come.

Still shut down. The last shut-down, which did not affect us, lasted eight days.

Our politicians do not exhibit anything remotely close to good financial stewardship over the funds we as taxpayers invest in government services. I completely agree, they could learn A WHOLE LOT from the Frugal Village community!
