Couple Things About Me
Hi Everyone,
I saw these questions were meant for new members and wanted to respond to them so you had an idea of who I am and what I am about.
In the process of going from debt to set,
-Steven
How did you hear about frugal village?
I was on the internet tonight and happened to come across this forum by chance through a google search.
What interests you here?
Going through the same things as others and having an environment where I can get advice as we work our way through our mountain of stupid tax (i.e., student loans). Yeah! See, I do have a Ph.D. in DUMB.
What will you contribute?
I am ambitious, enthusiastic, motivated, positive, and ready to share our story. I want to talk about our lives as we make the journey from debt and hopelessness to the land of DEBT FREE. We will get there. I am a person that accomplishes what I set my mind to. I failed out of college in 2001 right out of high school with a 0.4 GPA (you read that correctly). After working "odds and ends" jobs, I went back and didn't stop until I got my Ph.D.. I couldn't land a job related to what I went to school for after graduating in 2010, but with perseverance and many, many hours spent in front of the computer and in front of interviewers, I landed my dream job. Join me as we work our way to DEBT FREE. We will be screaming that in the lobby of Financial Peace plaza sooner than later. We're coming, Dave. Get ready for us!
Do you know any other members here?
I do not know any members yet, but look forward to meeting what appear to be some great people in this forum.
How many kids? Ages?
We do not have kids yet, but plan to some time in the not too distant future.
Tell us about yourself.
My girlfriend and I live in the D.C. metro area. I recently graduated in 2010 with my Ph.D. in Psychology. After graduating, I could not find the job I wanted or went to school for. All I could find were Ph.D. Secretary and Leasing Consultant positions that were completely humbling and made me hungrier than ever for success.
After 17 months of looking, applying, and interviewing for over 200 jobs, I finally landed my dream job. It has been a long road, but one that has inspired me to write about our story. I have always wanted to write about our experiences, but just needed that Dave Ramsey nudge, like only he could give. He fired me up and I have not stopped since. I am on a mission to become debt free and to inspire others not to follow along with our moronic decisions. Student loans are not a good idea. Plain and simple.
Do you own any pets?
No, I do not own any pets. I do want to get a bulldog one day and I want to name him something funny like "Buford", "Bernard", or "Wellington".
Occupation?
I am a researcher.
Married or single?
I have been with my beautiful girlfriend the past 8 years. We plan on getting married in the next couple years now that we are done with graduate school and both have jobs (thankfully!). It's been a long journey.
Interests and hobbies?
I enjoy reading, writing, paying off debt, eating great food, and meeting new people.

oh, and I may as well take the opportunity now:
when you get ready to bring that bulldog home, please find a rescue before considering buying from a breeder.

Thanks!
Hello!
I certainly will try and get her to join as well. She is certainly shy about these types of things, but I am sure she'll come around.
In regard to the dog, absolutely.
Have a great evening!
