    1 - pair scissors
    2 - glue sticks

My DD will start high school this year. I was just thinking about the school supply list today. Maybe I will call to see if they have one. I certainly don't want to wait until everyone else is out shopping for school supplies on the first day of school.

My guys are all in correspondence high school. I don't think we really need anything right now.

Each teacher gives a school supply list and a week to "fill" the order. lol I try to keep up on stocking normal needed supplies. I know my middle kid will need a good backpack this year. Other than that we have to wait. I'm sure we will need a few binders, just not sure what size or color yet.

    my first grader needs:
    2 boxes of crayons
    scissors
    pencils
    pencil top erasers
    glue sticks
    zipered pencil pouch
    1 pack loose leaf paper
    3 notebooks (red, blue, green)
    1 marble composition notebook
2 folders no prongs ( purple, yellow)
    bookbag
    disinfecting wipes
    tissues
    paper towels

We have been told our 8th graders will get their supply list on the open house night prior to the start of the school year.

And my oldest hasn't completely decided what all she thinks she needs to haul of to college with her.

fees are quite common here. it's not so bad. we never have to send money during the year.

    that's interesting!

so that $45 covers all field trips and extra 'stuff' so you won't be nickled & dimed to death over the course of the school year?!

that would be worth it then!!

I have a friend in South Carolina that said her local public school has a "registration fee" based on your lunch status of :

    free lunch $free
    reduced lunch $9
    regular lunch $30

The school's reasoning is: "due to reduced local & state revenue."

Seriously, I would refuse to pay for public school registration.

She said high school parking permits are $60/year

last year we never had to send anything or any extra money.

i am all for just paying once rather then over and over again. there is fundraising during the school year and sometimes they'll have pizza lunches or whatever, but they are optional.

i should mention that this is a small private school and tuition is so low i don't mind paying the activity fee. (public schools often still have activity fees...but they are usually less...maybe 15 or 20 dollars).
