1st political commercial about the debt
I just saw a political commercial talking about how the government is trying to take away social security. I guess its time for the political commercials to bombard us with a bunch of mess for the next 1 1/2 years. We won't know what is factual and what is fiction.....assuming we know anything close to the truth anyway!!

The system is a mess.
~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

"assuming we know anything close to the truth anyway"
I honestly don't think we do. The longer I live, the more I believe they just blow smoke up our butts.~~~

If it's using hyperbole, it's fiction with maybe a kernel of truth. Hardly anything is all or nothing, but each side has to portray it that way to try to spin it so it makes the other guy look bad and the person supported by the ad look sainted.
I wish people would get over the idea that someone, by affiliation with a certain political party, is either all bad or all good. Each candidate should be judged on the issues, ALL issues, not just a few hot-button topics. And I wish voters would look beyond the ads and do some research to get to the truth. Most of all, I wish all thenews channelspolitical opinion channels would quit racheting up the rhetoric for ratings. IMO, they've done more to pull this country apart than just about any other group of people on the planet, including the politicians themselves.
Voters also need to demand, when a candidate makes a statement about doing something, they also come out with a plan how to pay for whatever they promise, such as more money for education or fixing our infrastructure. Anything less is completely meaningless.
I've been seeing ads about the budget fight for a while now.
Voters need to wise up, too. Here's reality: Cutting taxes equals cutting programs. Adding or increasing existing programs equals raising taxes. Anyone who says otherwise is lying or clueless. Efficient government is an oxymoron and that's another reality.

Add to that I'd like if they were not allowed to clearly lie about their position on things. Their voting record should be what they run on. Nothing speaks the truth better than actions.
Voting record= truth
Election ad= a bunch of hot air~~~

They've been playing an ad here that states children are going to starve and go without education due to budget cuts. My thought was isn't it the parents responsibility to feed their children not the states? Ditto pre-school education.
Social security on the other hand we were forced to pay into from the time we started working so taking that away would be bad news for most of us drawing it. We saved what we could for retirement but the money withheld for social security reduced our ability to save.
We are getting at least 2 to 4 calls from presidential candidates and/or to participate in surveys for weeks now. Our penalty for our state having the first caucus in the U.S.A. It has gotten to the point that the day after the presidential election candidates are trolling the state for support. Never ends.
