With what is going on with Economy right now
With what is going on with the economy right now.... I am a little hesitant to put money in my IRA. I lost about 20 grand a few years back when we had the crash I an I just now up to only 20..... So the question is..... Are you still putting money in your IRA or are you sticking it somewhere else?

I'm following my investment adviser's advice, and loading up on canned goods and ammunition. 'Nuff said!

We are still putting $ in but only 6% that the company matches at the moment. We lost $30,000 a few years back and have not recovered it yet. If dh had his way we would pull every dollar we have in the market back out. I figure we are guaranteed to need to retire one day so I dont see another option than investing some.

I am putting the full amount in the Roth BUT... it must be said... I'm only 30. I think that's important. If I were 45, I might be acting differently.

I just funded our 2011 Roth's for the max.
Still contributing (donating?) to 401k's. I am 40 so I figure I have at least 15 years before I would possibly need the money so hopefully the market will be on the upswing by then (fingers crossed)Frugalista Mama to DD 12 & DS 8

This is exactly what I am thinking. Now my decision is, how worried should I be about this? We are debt free right now including our house but did spend what we had in savings so I would love to stock up more. (not enough to last a week on anything right now) But it would have to be on a HELOC that is at 0 right now and I am thinking the stuff i bought would be useful anyway so if something didnt happen no big deal but then I would have a little debt. Just trying to figure out if I should be worried enough to be prepared or just wait and get it a little at a time.

With what is going on with economy right now the thing that makes sense to us is to be completely debt free, including our mortgage. ALL our money is going to pay off debt. We can't imagine putting money towards anything else at this point.

Kim, that is our Suki Girl. She was 10 years old. She passed on 2 years ago this September 11th. My heart is still broken. My avatar is so I can always see her.
There sure is something about Chows that are unlike other breeds isn't there? I understand why you still miss your guy.

I didnt mean invest more. I was agreeing with paying off the mortgage while investing the 6% that is matched.
I personally might switch a few investments around but won't pull out. Some things are doing very well. However if one isnt prepared with the EF I wouldnt be investing in the market at all. hope I'm making sense.~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

he won't guarantee the 4.74% return I figure I am getting by paying my mortgage off early.
