In the US. There are different changes happening in Canada. Adding yogurt to the Happy Meal and dropping the size of the fries (still offering choice of apples or fries).

In the US you will still get a choice of apples or fries but if you don't request one or the other then you will get both

Has anyone ever tried the apples from McD's? They just don't sound very appetizing to me, though I do like the concept of offering them as a choice.

    I'm not impressed either.

When we go out it is to get stuff that I'm not cooking at home. I can slice apples. Even the kids can slice apples.

I don't like to stink up the house with oil smell so we go out upon occasion for a fry, not an apple. On top of that, they probably have to put some kind of preservative on it to keep it from changing colors which puts it right back into the unhealthy category with fries. Do I really want sodium benzoate hyping up my kid? (or the one sitting behind me in the booth??)

"McDonald's USA also promised Tuesday to reduce sugar, saturated fats and calories in its meals, through "varied portion sizes, reformulations and innovations," by 2020."

    ...by 2020? Really?
When I go to Mickey D's I know I'm buying an incredibly unhealthy, high fat, high sodium meal. I am not disillusioned about it. I just hope this change doesn't make some people think McD's is in any way a healthy choice. It is still fast food.

Yes, I like them already sliced ready to go in a nice little package.

It appears the caramel dipping sauce might be going away though at least in the happy meal.

The preservative they use on the apples is calcium ascorbate ( a blend of calcium and vitamin c to maintain color)

I think this is dumb. We don't eat at McDonald's anymore (my 9 year old actually refuses to now) but if I want to go out and have some junk, then by golly I want some junk. No one should eat at McDonald's so much that one order of fries is going to be a problem for their kids.

I think as often as we go...once every...six or eight months?? It should not be looked down upon me as a mother to be giving the kiddos a fat filled meal. Those people that do look down at me for it have no clue that my kids eat and can probably name more vegetables than they ever get. And they love it. So if once in a blue moon, we go out for a juicy cheeseburger, by gosh, I am going to get them the works.

If I want french fries then I want french fries. If I want an apple I'll eat it at home. I don't eat out to eat a stupid apple.

It's not McDonalds, it's the big brother groups out there raising a stink and controlling what you're eating. It's been all over the news for months... We're making our kids fat...??? Quite frankly, in my opinion, it's my business what my kids and my house eats and not these special interest groups.

Even Michelle Obama, the eat healthy queen, got busted pix and all eating at a fast food place, biggest hamburger they had AND fries...when caught she said, "Everything in moderation."

If I or my family want yogurt and apples I'll serve it at home. If I eat out it's something I don't want to or can't cook at home. No one elses business. No special interest groups nor big brother.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

IMO they need to start with the schools and not the fast food places.

IMO people should just go home and make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Surely we still remember how to do that?
