Article~ The Poo Police
DNA samples will determine if Jupiter residents aren't picking up behind their pooches
wow - just wow -
now while I whole heartedly believe that we should be held accountable for our pets (and their poo) ~ geez, I just couldn't afford this the fee for the initial swab!! I would think this is per dog - could you imagine!?!
Then again, if I put myself on the other side, I wouldn't want to live in a poo infested 'hood either!
could you imagine having to walk around poo to get to your condo/apartment/home on a daily basis?

We have more of an issue with kitties going in the flower beds ~ which is annoying when my cats are INside.

Interesting. The comments were mostly blasting the HOA, but I would want to blast all the irresponsible owners who make this necessary to keep a clean, sanitary environment for everyone.
Admittedly I'm probably a grounchy old woman, but it seems to me, living in apartments as I do, that there has been over the years a growing disregard by many for the fact that they share space with others. Common courtesy is sometimes not so common anymore.Donna

Agreed.
While I'm not a fan of the overly gripish HOAs, I do see their purpose.
All residents living in a condo or apartment complex should be even more civil to their fellow neighbors.Don't Breed or Buy While Shelter Pets Die

Seems like it would be less expensive and more to the point to use a security camera.
People who don't clean up after their dogs are a problem in campgrounds, too. It's idiots like that who are going to ruin it for the rest of us when dogs get banned from more and more parks.
Once again, I just shake my head over people willing to live in a place with an HOA. I'm a militant about dog rules and I love dogs. People who don't clean up annoy me no end, but this is just over the top crazy time.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If the HOA is poop infested like ours is, I'm all for it. I go bike riding with the kiddos for an hour each morning. We see who knows how many people walking their dogs allowing them to relieve in the common areas (and other peoples yards). We have reminders all over the park including bags and a disposal area for just poop and I have only seen 1 owner clean up after her dog.

I've always wondered at the laziness of some people. Would they let their kid mess all over and not clean it up?

I also have an issue with the lazy dog owners ruining it for the rest of us - eventually, I won't be able to take my dogs anywhere -
Side note:
I have one dog that's not as social & friendly as the rest of us, she only leaves the house when we have to...
Another pet peeve I have is those dog owners that let their dog invade my dog's personal space in the vet's office waiting room - Know what?? My dog is going to EAT your dog - ugg!!!
Better yet - those STUPID people that let their little kid come up to my dog in the vet's lobby - my dog doesn't like your kid - I promise she'll bite you and your kid too.
STAY AWAY FROM MY DOG UNLESS INVITED TO TOUCH HER.
that is all.

On the same page are the stupid dog owners who think everyone wants to pet your dog.
My kids hate your dog. I hate your dog and I REALLY hate your dog by my kid. They may laugh at some of the funny things and watch but they don't want you to bring it up in their face. They don't want to be licked or sniffed and they sure don't want the nose ramming into their backside or the yapper nipping their ankles. There is a leash law in this town for a reason. If you love your dog, keep it by your side and out of our space. The next nipper gets a boot in the backside. My kids come first.

EXACTLY!!!
oh, and my dog doesn't want to be friends with your dog - my dog doesn't need your dog that she's NEVER met before getting your leash wrapped up with ours, sniffing her tush.
I shouldn't need to put a sign on my dog that says DO NOT TOUCH - she sould have her own amount of personal space that's respected -
I was walking with my little j in the neighborhood (just us, no dogs) and someone's dog (thankfully very friendly) ran up to us, jumping all over little j - left scratch marks all over his back and stomach, licking him in the face - guess he thought little j was the best thing since cat food.
Anyway - it's a good thing we're dog people, cause that could've been an uuuuugly scene for someone who's not.
now can you imagine how that dog would act in public places?? agghhhh.
((for the record, I do believe that our experience with the neighborhood dog was a fluke and he got out by accident - no harm, no foul - my little j loves dogs))
BUT it did show me how fast an attack can happen, and we would've been helpless -Don't Breed or Buy While Shelter Pets Die

and while we're visiting the subject of poo - what about the cats - the wonderful "indoor/outdoor" cats - that live in close neighborhoods.
I wonder how those homeowners that have no pets feel about your cat sleeping on their car, on their porch furniture, and pooping in their flower beds.....
and we can lie and tell ourselves that Fluffy never leaves her own yard - but come on.... we're talking about a cat..... yes, Fluffy leaves her yard, she hunts for birds and squirrels, and she poops in the neighbors flower beds.....
Just food for thought.
