Default A New Save-A-Lot opening soon. Suggestions?

The Aldi post was great even though there is not one anywhere near me.

However, there will be a new Save-A-Lot opening soon and I have not shopped at one in over 12 years when I lived in a different city where one was located.

So, please tell me... What is good? What is great? What do you avoid?

Thanks! I especially need to cut down on my grocery budget. Finding prices to skyrocket so high when you have no discount grocer's or surplus stores.

I can't wait for the replies. I can always count on FV.

I shop at Sav a Lot alot. There is one on the corner so it is my run to store when I need something fast. The things I buy from there regularly are
    Soup
Canned food ( its cheaper than ALDIs here)
    Hamburger meat
    Cereal
    Eggs
    Butter
Milk (although it is not nearly as cheap as ALDIs)
    Cat Litter
Garbage Bags ( amazing price on them. 2.79 for 20 bags)
    Mac n cheese
    Ramen Noodles
    Sunny D
    Ice cream / popsicles
    napkins
    paper towel
    Toilet paper
    spaghetti
    black olives
    Pancake mix/syrup
    Chicken breast
    chicken wings
    mustard/ketchup/bbq sauce
    spices
    gravy packet mixes
soda ( they have name brand and their brand, we like their brand fine)
    Buns/bread
They have good produce to but it's not always a great price

The only that comes to mind that I really dislike from there is their mayo, corn dogs, and bottled water.

I am very excited to see the responses to this post.
I've found Save a Lot is the cheapest place around here to buy canned vegetables. In fact tomorrow I had planned to go stock up on a few cases of green beans for my stockpile.

We are debt free besides our house payment!!!

We had one open about six to ten months ago here. I went once and never again. In all honesty, ours is not good at all. Nothing, and I mean nothing is priced any cheaper than our Wal-Mart or Food Outlet. I have never heard of the vast majority of brands they carry, and the store itself is dirty.

We had one open up in next town over. Haven't been there yet but only heard good things so far. Still clean etc.
But the one in the next town over from that I've been there once to check it out and was not impressed at all. On the slightly dirty side ... don't know, just never went back. Will probably check the new one out so we'll see.

The one by us is always very clean and the people who work there are all very friendly and helpful. The butcher is always helpful and friendly also.
