    Default I've Been Traveling...

I've been enjoying my new retirement by traveling! We haven't taken long trips, but some short ones around Iowa, a trip to Minneapolis and one to Michigan. I get itchy feet.... wanderlust...

I love trips like that! There are so many fabulous things hidden in the nooks and crannies of America.

Never been to that store, McD!!

But our Iowa trips have included Pella, Amana, Burlington, Ft. Madison, Villages of Van Burean, Iowa City and Davenport. We like looking at museums, historical sites, and trying different kinds of foods. Will be going to Iowa State Fair soon.

Minneapolis: the Cathedral, the art museum, West Side Story at the Orpheum, meeting with nephew and wife, eating at an upscale restaurant

Michigan: Port Huron, Ann Arbor, Howell, Holly. Tried lots of little bistros and shops, waded in the Lake, met with friends.

Will be going back to MI soon to Mackinak Island. Also planning trips to Chicago, Denver, and Branson.

Russ, so surprised to see the downtown sector of PH was dying.

Has been for years since everything moved in North of 69 on M25. I remember driving up M25 20 years ago and there was nothing up there!

Found a fantastic cafe in PH downtown called The Raven. It's a literary themed cafe (Edgar Allen Poe), with awesome food.

Burlington/Ft Madison is my old neck of the woods. I lived across the river on the Illinois side. Illinois also has some great stuff if you cross the river---Nauvoo, especially.
