Default Soft meals for diabetic that are low in cholesterol

I need meal ideas for someone who is diabetic and needs to watch their cholesterol. Am trying to think of foods that are softer since they just had work done on their jaw.

I was thinking of foods like fish, tomatoes, potatos, pureed soup, poached chicken, etc. What ideas do you have? I can't eat tomatos, potatos, or green peppers. So am lost on foods.

Most diabetics I know watch their potato intake.

How about some steamed veggies? Since they are having jaw issues, I'd steam them a little more than I would under "normal" conditions.

I am a diabetic so these are the things that come to my mind: brocolli soup; chicken & barley soup; scrambled or devilled eggs; tuna salad; browned hamburger meat topped with cheese (kind of like a bunless burger, but with the meat chopped up); chili made with some pinto beans added; steamed veggies as stated above. Dried beans in limited amounts are recommended for diabetics (1/2 to 3/4 cup cooked).

Sweet potatos. Cauliflower mashed to make mock mash potatos.
Lowfat or skim milk with toasted whole wheat bread, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar substitute or drizzled with real maple syrup.

Pasta salad? Overboil the pasta a lil bit to help? You could add in tuna for protein.

Egg salad sammies on soft sammy bread. Quiche?

    Carrot mash is always tasty.

Custards/jellos/rice pudding - sugar free of course for dessert?

If they had jaw work done - no sipping through a straw. If they truly have no appetite - try looking for a Glucerna meal replacement shake for them - but no straws.
