    Default frugal mom in training

for the last little while I have felt the strongest desire and need to learn to be frugal. Upon praying about it I felt really good about it and felt like I needed to really throw myself into it. SO what I want to hear are your success storyies. Why has being frugal helped you and has it really made a difference?

You'll be able to keep busy for a week reading all the info here. What has being frugal done for me? Let me stay home with my kids. That's huge.

We live on a 2,500 acre lake with a million-dollar view and a ton of wildlife to enjoy. Sometimes when people see us buying stuff secondhand, they'll say something like "but I thought you lived on the lake." Hellloooooo? How do they think we can afford to live on the lake?

I was also able to stay home with our kids, not only by being frugal, but by stepping outside gender roles and doing a lot of DIY projects and repairs. One year I gutted our bathroom to the studs and started over. I've repaired all kinds of appliances and replaced water heaters. I do stuff like deck construction and other larger projects. All of that has saved thousands over the years.
