Last weekend of summer
This our last weekend of summer here. Last weekend the swimming pool is open. School starts next week.
This summer flew by. I am not ready to send my children back to school and start school schedules. I am wishing for more summer time.

No traditions per se, we just try to cram every fun thing we didn't get to do into that last week of summer. I'm not ready to send my kids off to school either. I'll miss them!
How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown

The beginning of the week is still summer. We always start school mid week here so the first week is short to get back into the swing of things
Summer started a few days before memorial day ( may 30th this year)
Remember high school 2 the summer one the year it premired after my kids summer was over and the next school year had started that year. Everyone was giggling about that one"Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

Well school starts here on the 22nd, but other than last minute shopping and organizing, we've never done anything in celebration of that "last summer weekend".
But
.....I do love doing fun little things like that, and you've given me ideas to make a party of it! I think I'll surprise them
! Plans, plans, plans!!
imagine, thanks for the inspiration, I'm needing a little fun right now.
And count me in on not being ready for vacation to end either!
First of course, 'cause i'll miss them!
Second, it means ALL those 'beginning of the year' papers that need to be fiiled out and seem to number into the 100s....
Then there's lunch money, homework, clean socks (lol), and on and on!

Hugs to the mommies!

We start the 15th this year. We are building new school buildings and we need to work around construction schedules. So, we will end at Memorial Day. MY kids, however, don't start until the end of August. That's the tough part! They will enjoy their evenings, though. We made a board similar to this one and hung it in the kitchen (ours is smaller). They will have a great time completing their "to-do" list! Eat ice cream BEFORE dinner, sleep in the sunroom, go to the water park, take a hike, blow bubbles....

School starts the 29th here...I am going to take my 6 year old grandson shopping for a backpack and whatever he needs for his first day of kindergarten. Then I am going to take him to DQ for a banana split. He has never had one.....I always hate closing our pool for the year
I love looking out at the beautiful blue water and swimming. All winter its the ugly brown tarp

School doesn't start until the first week of Sept here. But every year we go to the fair the third week of August. It's one of our last fun things to do over the summer.
My personal tradition is to get super organized, so things go more smoothly for all of us. This is when I do my major decluttering. I purge all the outgrown clothes etc. I'm not done, but I'm getting there. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I might be in the minority, but, I hate the start of school. I always miss my kids and feel depressed.

I do not think you are in the minority. You are definitely n the majority in the post.
You did see the frowny face in the title right?
To starve off the first day mommy blues some mommy friends here get together and get coffee and chat about the kids summer and the first day of school so far.
Some met at wal mart and develop back to school photos at the quick station or 1 hour then share back to school first day photos some get together and make the first day of school scrapbook page
I have one friend with a big family that gives herself an alone party. She enjoys the quiet for a few mins then fixes a fun snack or chips or dip her choice and watches a movie of her choice. Maybe takes a nap. No chores allowed only her choice fun and relaxation . Then she is eager to pick them all up and hear the wonderful stories"Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

I hate sending my kids back to school...
i work most days so i dont get to see them anyways during school hours however i know they are safe at home with dh...they are able to sleep in and occasionaly i get a day off during the summer so we are able to go to the beach go shopping etc....and when they go back to school all the homework and stuff associated with school and my daughter loves after school activities even if she is physically unable to do them...ugh! So my days consist of going to work...up at 5:45 and dont get home till 5:00 and then go to school to pick kids up for after school activites...home make sure homework gets done...supper,....laundry etc....so i am not looking forward to it....
