    2. To pay to get my hair highlighted - It really needs it

    3. A Gift card to the local department store - so I can buy some much needed clothing

    I'd get the showerhead.

Highlights need upkeep, and for clothing, thrift shops are a better deal.

i'd say the gift card - treat your self - you dont have to use all of it, buy something now and get something next month, a little treat for yourself

The gift card for the clothes- you yourself mention you really need some new clothes. The highlights would be fun, a nice treat, yes, but they need upkeep, and I am going to go out on a limb and guess that's not something you can afford the upkeep on. Get the gift card- you'll get clothes you need, and spend a nice afternoon 'shopping' with your gift.

I know what *I* would choose but it isn't MY birthday...

    Lets look at your choices...

    1) The shower head, while not 'personal' it does save money by using less water. Is it a $400 head, or an $80 one? Could you find it cheaper online somewhere?

    2) Are highlights a NEED? Do you work in a high profile job where success is based on appearances? Will you be able to comfortably afford maintenance?

    3) Are you a hard to fit size? I know at my size, it is hard to find clothing off the rack and I have to buy most things online, making department store or thrift shopping almost impossible.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I would get the gift card. You can find great deals at department store clearance.

I can do highlights myself if I really wanted them (or have a friend assist).

Do any of your utilities offer an energy audit? When our electric/gas company came out and did an energy audit, they gave use low flow shower heads, etc.

I'd go with the shower head. A relaxing shower in the morning does more to start my day off right.

They are all nice treats and I can see why you wish you could have them all.

I agree with the highlights - upkeep

I like shopping at their stores for my clothes - the biggest reason is they have already been washed and I usually ruin new clothing in the washer.

I would go for the showehead. Not only would it be wonderful to use it but, it would save you money in the long run which in turn you could use to get more clothing or the highlights!!

    Happy Birthday!!!

Just a thought about the highlights, yes it'd be a 'pick me up' but it does need upkeep. Are you able to afford one of the highlight kits they sell in the drug stores and DIY? This way the upkeep is more affordable. Or possibly think of choosing a solid hair colour you could do yourself at home, some of the kits now days are 'rinses' which turn out like highlights.

Showerhead - everyone will benefit from this as well as your piggy bank. The only downside, its not just for you. If you're ok with that, go for it

The clothing at a dept store - now is a great time to shop b/c its summer clearance / final clearance. And possibly picking up a few key classic basics would be nice right now since you need the clothes but I always wonder if you'd be able to get better pricing from thrift stores.

    Practical answer - showerhead.

Fun answer - gift card. You'll get the fun of 'shopping' and the bonus of having clothes (and possibly shoes) to show for it and its all just for you.

    Tough decisions!! Happy Birthday

~I'd choose the shower head. It's practical but also a way to make an everyday task more enjoyable and spa-like.~

I'd go with the highlights, I'm very concerned about my hair and if my hair looks good, I feel good .
