Doesn't it melt before you heat it?

Heh heh.... McD is right. Food at the fair was either deep fried (as in deep fried Oreos, deep fried Snickers, deep fried turkey legs, deep fried butter...) or on a stick. Of course the apex is being deep fried AND on a stick!

As far as how it was made: they took a chunk of butter and dipped it in batter, then plunged it into a frier. When I ate it, there was no melted butter inside; it had all been absorbed by the batter. The whole thing tasted like a cinnamon pancake with lots of butter.

Will try to post some pics of my parents and their award. I like the one with their backs to us. This was taken backstage as they were getting ready to walk on-stage. They are arm in arm, hand in hand..... just like always!

The next one is them after receiving the award.

And the last one is what deep fried butter on a stick looks like!

Thanks fhg, for the pictures. And what a sweet looking couple they are. It took alot of determination to do what they did. The award is wonderful, but how nice to look back and personally know that all their hard work is what kept that family farm going. I can only imagine the days they spent as a team. Bet they could write a book! I hope for many more days together for them. Surely they're "one of a kind"!

Thank you for the photos FHG, your parents look like such nice people.
Also thanks for the photo of the fried butter. I had also had a look at the list of the food on a stick from the fair.
    OMG!

Also the idea of a deep fried snickers. How do people come up up with these things????

FHG during dinner yesterday I was telling dh about your post, about your parents and about the deep fried food and the food on a stick.

After telling him about the food, his face was worth a photo but then as I said to him, actually the deep fried butter looks a lot like a fat 'frikandel' (dutch fast food) and believe me if people in the US knew what was in it, they would NEVER eat it. He had to agree.
BTW I LOVE a frikandel (not often - but every so often).
