Survey : What is your income level - and how are you doing, financially?

This is anonymous - just trying to gather some basic demographics.

By "How are you doing?" - the primary "WE'RE DOING WELL" answer here means you are either out of debt or are at least paying down your debt and not taking on any new debt.

If you are living beyond your means, you are not doing well, for the purposes of this poll.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I know we've got more than 21 members. Go ahead and answer (truthfully please) - NOBODY will know how you answer but you!

Neat survey. I had to check "we are not doing well" only because DH isn't on board with frugal-living...as you already know, Greebo. We'd be SO much better if he was, but "you can lead a camel to water, but you can't make him drink".

Personally, I think we're doing alright, but there are always the what if's in life that we aren't fully prepared for...What if DH lost his job?...What if DH became severely injured and couldn't work?...The list goes on. This is another reason I had to check "not doing well".

I said doing well however, maybe not. Temporarily we are taking on some debt because Ds leaves for college and we lost a dog and got 2 more.
That said DH's job appears stable (as it gets right now)
-we proudly bought a new bike for Ds under the car needed pressure
-we are expecting a huge (to us) Fed. tax rebate w/in the week.
-And Ds in paid for this semester and has 90% of what he needs plus we have about 50% of the tuition covered for winter.
-And we vaccinated fully the last dog today.

We had been double paying the mortgage but that shall resume in Oct.

your poll is biased against single people. you will end up with two curves?

need to re-do your poll for the single people and the married people.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Voted on our current situation. I think for quite a few of us there is a HUGE difference between situations this year and the same time last year.

Although "doing well" we do have debt that is being paid off, and once the debt is gone, I see no need to change my miserly ways - and a nice, fat "retirement" account will be a bonus!
