    Default What Is Your Favourite Quote...?

    ...and how has the quote impacted your life in some way?

    My favourite quote that I'm trying to grasp these days is "Less is more". I've had such a hard time over the years purging my stuff. But I know all it is is "stuff". I've also had a hard time getting rid of my daughter's baby toys and clothes because it makes me feel like I'm getting rid of their childhood. (The girls are only 7 and almost 5...I know...I know...) But this week, thanks to that quote and a SIL encouraging me to do so, I've been getting rid of "stuff" just sitting around, not being used to its fullest advantage and just collecting dust. So far I have 3 bags of "stuff" to sell and have gotten rid of about 3 garbage bags to the Goodwill.

    Just food for thought, I guess.

    I like:

    Out of clutter, find simplicity. From discord, find harmony. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity. -Albert Einstein

    It's the backbone of the entire frugality movement, isn't it? That Einstein...smart guy...

    I have two. The first:

    They also serve who only stand and wait. John Milton

    It just seems very appropriate for our family.

    The second:

    May the sun bring you new energy by day, may the moon softly restore you by night, may the rain wash away your worries, may the breeze blow new strength into your being. May you walk through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life. – Apache Blessing

    I have my doubts as to if it is truly an Apache blessing but I love it all the same.

    IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME

    Those are the 10 most important 2 letter words to me. It does not matter if it is living frugally, losing weight, learning something new, whatever it may be....I cannot just sit around wishing it..hoping it...I have to do my part to make it happen. Even if it requires help from others...it is up to me to get going towards it.
    Right is right even if no one else is doing it. Wrong is wrong even if everyone else is doing it.

    Mine is (and has been a long time)...

    Do not assume that she who seeks to comfort you now, lives untroubled among the simple and quiet words that sometimes do you good. Her life may also have much sadness and difficulty, that remains far beyond yours. Were it otherwise, she would never have been able to find these words.
    - Rainer Maria Rilke -

    It hasn't impacted my life as much as defined it. At one point in my life, many years ago, I felt as if everyone I knew ran to me for help. I always had someone begging for advice or guidance but no one ever offered any to me. I found this quote and I just love it. I started looking up for of Rainer Maria Rilke's stuff and found I like a lot of it.

    Mc D;
    Love your 2nd quote; felt very peaceful just reading it.

    I've been looking for those vinyl quotes to put on my walls.

    I like
    Dance like no one is watching;
    Love like you've never been hurt;
    Sing like no one is listening;
    Live like heaven is on earth.

    And the other one;
    Once in a while right in the middle of an ordinary life God gives us a miracle.

    I'm actually looking to buy these to put on my walls

    Some good quotes here............thanks for posting.

    I have many that are my favorites but the one that really stands out for me is:

    "When someone shows you who they are.....believe them."
    Maya Angelou

    The other two that I have applied are:

    "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about
    what matters to us."

    AND:

    "Forgiveness: Giving up the hope that the past could have
    been any different."

    I love reading quotes.......and thinking about them.
    Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.
