    Default credit couseling

In early 2006, my step father had an accident at work. He was an independant contractor, so all the medical bills came to us to pay. Mom and I have spent all of our life living without his paychecks, but he had at least taken care of some of his own personal expenses. Now everything was to us.

It was a major strain on us at a time that neither of us was ready for. I had several credit cards that were all maxed or close to it at the time. All for stupid reasons, most of the time I had cash in hand at the time I used them, I just wanted to use them.

The highest card was BOA. The monthly payment was around $125 which I easily made until the accident. I made a payment late and before I knew it the min due was past $1000 a month and the interest rate was now 29%.

I got into a credit couseling program and for $35.00 a month they got my interest rates dropped, got the payment to a point that I could pay it and within a few months I saw the balances start to go down. I wouldn't say drop, but they were slowly going down.

Well, just this morning the electronic draft came through to pay off the final card (BOA). I paid a total of $14,000 off in 5 years.

No suggestions needed, I just wanted to brag. I am sooo Happy!!!!

I am moving into my new apartment this week, I got that payment and debt out of the way AND the BF and I are going out on a date this weekend instead of just staying at home. It don't get no better!

Outstanding story! You should be proud of yourself for a couple of reasons.
    1) Paying off that debt! Great job!
    2) Learning how evil those things are! GREAT JOB!
