Question Sign of the times or sign of the time of year?

    Bikes everywhere.

So many bikes at Little Miss's Elementary school that they do not fit in the long bike rack in front of the school. They overflow and are just parked near the bike rack.

Several bikes parked in front of the high school.

Bikes parked out front of the grocery store and at Walmart. And no these are not the bikes for sale these are bikes parked in the bike rack.

Bikes parked on the corner downtown.

    Bikes bikes everywhere.

I think it is that time of year. I wish my kids were bike riders. DS1 just is too afraid. DD tries, but can't quite get the balance. I think DS2 would do fine, but whatever big brother does...

I think it's nice. Speaking of bikes I saw the craziest thing last night. Some guy had taken two bikes and welded them together like a double decker. The kids asked him how he got on it and he showed them. Just climbed up without loosing balance or anything.

I have seen adult child tandem bikes a adult bike with a kid bike attached

like this one so a younger child can on a longer bike ride with their parents.

Is that what you mean or a just for fun double Decker like a bike on top of a bike.

I think it's a sign of times AND year. I know we're biking more. The 2 older girls and I got new to us bikes this year. Cruisers Lots of fun. But with gas being approx $4.30/gallon and sooo many people having SUVs, it's expensive to drive.

I am not doing as much driving as I normally do. I want to add a basket to my bike, so that I can go do small shopping trips. I don't feel comfortable with a bag swinging. If I could, I'd rig a trailer behind..lol. But I don't have anything. Might talk to dh about that though....

Well, it isn't a bicycle, but we just traded our camper and 4-wheeler for a motorcycle to save on gas. We both drive trucks because of my husband's remodeling business, but with business being so slow for the past few years and gas so expensive it just made sense to us. It cost an average of $80.00 a week to fill his tank, the motorcycle was $16.00.

We still have our toddler trailer. Hubby won't sell it for just that reason.

I think it is the time of the year. We will not see as many bikes here when fall and winter arrive. I do not see children out biking the way they once did. Either parents are uncomfortable with it or they are not interested. It is a shame, with children and adults that are so obese nowdays. I try to ride every morning.I often see a fellow with the child tote hitched on the back of his bike. He puts groceries in it.

I hope it's a sign of the times and change. If I move back from Denmark, I'll really miss having the opportunity to bike like we do here. I love the bike lanes, bike parking, low cost, and general laid back vibe of riding a bike as primary in-town transportation. Not so fun in the cold, snow, and rain, but still a great way to get around.

Americans should bike more. I was talking with US friend not to long ago and I said how odd it would feel to drive the short distances I was used to driving there because now, riding my bike would be the obvious choice. And he reminded me of the crazy drivers, lack of bike parking and general lack of cyclists.

I'll definitely have to move to a bike friendly place if/when I move back. For in-town errands, a car seems so inconvenient now.
