Several roads washed out - school's cancelled today, hardly any traffic on the main connector road we live on. Minimal rain yesterday for about three hours, then it continued raining. Total time rain yesterday: 13.5 hours!
My family is fine - even the crazy chickens. I can see the last bands of clouds heading North to NorthEast.
DH left for Marlborough Mass early this morning for a meeting - I'm concerned for him.

S NH here, we're fine. Apparently, the other side of the hill was much worse. For once, being on this hill was a blessing. Usually, we get whatever flooding on our property, as we're in a swale, over a granite ledge.

We're a few miles from the coast in eastern NC and were without power until last night (power was out for a total of 40 hours). My parents who live about five miles away, still don't have power. Craven County schools were closed today and will be closed tomorrow due to power outages. My kids are happy! LOL!

The eye passed just a few miles from here and although we've had stronger hurricanes through the years, most people that we've talked to here have said that the wind was worse this time. Usually there is a break during the eye of course and the winds are easier on the back side of it, but this time the winds were just as bad on the back. It went on for hours!!! It started up Friday night/Sat. morning and it's creepier at night when you can't see what's happening. You can hear things cracking and thumping and we heard some weird moaning type sounds this time too. We have a lot of trees and I was scared one would fall on the house. Needless to say we didn't sleep much. The only damage we have is some of the cedar is dangling off of the chimney, at least a third of our fence is down, and we have a whole lot of branches and other stuff to clean up. We've worked for two days cleaning the yard and have more to do. Our chickens live in a chain link dog pen on a concrete slab and it was lifted up and moved about six inches. My dh put the basketball goal down on the ground and it spun around. Maybe that weird moaning sound was it spinning around and around like a propeller. LOL!

There's a house two streets behind us that has not one, but TWO trees on it...one on each end of the house. We have the biggest mess in our subdivision though as far as the yard mess. It could have been worse though...we could have been the ones with the two trees on our house.

    We survived here in Baltimore.

We managed to keep the sump from flooding after we lost power.
Initially, we used a battery operated pump then upgraded to a converter that uses the car engine and were able to charge the back up pump enough to keep the water level down.

I did manage to severely sprain my ankle by tripping up our steps. It hurt so much I initially thought it was broken. Cleopatra heard me scream and went nuts running between my location and searching the house for Greebo. When Greebo came back in the house, I was at least able to use words to make sentences instead of multi-syllabic garble. I crawled up the steps and he got me ice, an Ace bandage and some ibuprofen ASAP. I was RICE'd within 15 mins of the injury and I think that helped immensely. I spent the rest of the day with the leg propped up and Greebo taking care of things. to him.

We got power back this morning, I took the next few days off, Greebo stayed home to assist me as needed and take care of some appts we had coming to the house.

I hope everyone continues to be safe, there is a lot more work to be done by lots of people.

One minor correction to the above:

I stayed home because both the HVAC guy and Verizon were coming out, and because I had only about 10 hours sleep over the last two days.

You getting taken care of was just a lucky bonus for you.

    I love you honey!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
