Unhappy East Coasters in storm path, How are you?

Still have power here but the rain may do us in. Living on the creek and having lots of rain could have us without a house. Hubby is really worried. I'll keep you posted. NY Weather Alert - weather.com

Just looking outside all I can see are some branches down. The really tall trees seem to have stayed upright for now.

Got gas for the generator, plenty of food, yards picked up...just waiting to see how long the electricity stays on! We're in s.w.NH so Irene is heading right for us, but should hit as a tropical storm. Everyone stay safe!

So far so good ~ we're still "waiting" for it to come here.

Irene has been downgraded to a tropical storm for us, but still 70+ mph winds. Heavy rain on and off, trees still standing, power still on - for now. Power company has been struggling to repair outages but announced it will have to wait now that Irene has reached NYC... need to keep the workers safe.

Speaking of unsafe workers... my OldMan IS working, Apparently, being able to have satellite tv is HIGH on the list of NEEDS Seriously??? They HAD to have the installation done today????
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

It is expected in Maine soon. Downgraded to a TS but still going to be quite nasty with wind and rain. As prepared as we can be, hopefully it will move quickly. Take care everyone.

~We still have power and no damages but there are outages in nearby neighborhoods and a lot of flooding.
Based on the pictures you posted before, I'm concerned about your creek rising too, Darlene. Does it have a history of rising?
The storm has dumped a foot of water on almost every area in its path. The water has to go somewhere.
My parents live very near a major river and I'm worried about flooding there over the next few days.
Irene may have passed us(well, mostly, it's still raining and blowing a bit here) but it's not really over yet.
    Be safe everyone!~

Thanks for your kind words. The highest ever recorded was in '96 and we were here for that. We had water higher than our basement windows then. We kept up with things with sump and plugging holes with whatever and ended up with no damage to basement & house. Fire dept stopped by a few hours ago to check on us & said that they expect it to be as bad as the 96 flood. Hope it's lower and that if it does come , we can keep up with it. That flood was devastating to our area... Right now a nearby town has water rescue helping people and numerous roads are closed due to flooding. We lost power for a couple hours but it came back on. What a mess. Stay safe all and hoping for the best for all of you.

We lost power about 9:30am. After having to clean off a spark plug, we got the generator up and running. Sump pump is running so basement won't flood. We are able to running computers, TV, and microwave plus the fridge. Hoping it passes soon.

Lots of flooding and downed trees in our town, but fortunately not in our house or on our street.

Lights flickering, but power is staying on so far. Lots of rain and wind.
This spring the Connecticut River flooded, came over the cornfields and I could see the river from my dooryard - can't yet, which is a good thing!
I keep checking the basement - noo flooding (praise God). I've been making 'Dinners in a Jar' today to keep hands busy, stockpile of spices rotated, and for some 'normalcy.' I keep hearing breaking trees/branches - nothing I can see from inside is down though.
Central VT has been having lots of rain since 5:30 (when I got up) to now. Storm still in CT, I believe - wow this is a HUGE storm!

Here in northern NJ we're fine. No flooding or damage for us but others more to the east are flooded.

My parents in southern NJ (right outside of Atlantic City) had no flooding or damage on their street. My mom actually said there were barely puddles. A neighbor's tree fell into their own driveway but no damage to cars/house or property.
