re two things in your list
fruits and veggies - any fruit stands near you - we get our fruit and veggies at at least 1/2 what stores want from a fruit stand run by a distributor - its not a pretty place - cement floors cold in winter warm in summer but in many of the groceries you are paying for pretty !!
bread-
we have a bakery in next down its not a reg bakery its a small factory like bakery that makes rolls i often buy a bag of day old and use them - they are still pretty fresh and on the rare occasion they arent i pop them in the microwave for 10-30 seconds with a little bit of water in a shot glass in with it

Do you boil the bones for broth? I freeze the broth in 2 cup portions and use it to cook cous cous or white rice in. Adds nutritional value and flavor.

That's a good idea with the chicken bones..I'm actually gonna need chicken stock for the chicken with dumplings so I'm gonna do that! Thank u
