Default Closing a credit card with no balance

Do I just phone and close the account? I just do not want the temptation of carrying it around anymore. TIA! Janine

No..........you have to send it in writing. And I am not sure
about doing it on-line..........call the number on the back of the card and ask them.

Most have to be done in writing........snail mail........to have
    it "official"...........

It will hurt your credit rating for a short spell........so if you plan to go for a loan in the near future, don't do it, until after you have the loan secured.

    Congrats!

I'd ask them for a letter of confirmation not only to confirm but to cover your butt just in case.

Good deal - now keep that forever just in case there's ever any issue w/ credit reports or the like. (Not worried about your credit score but am worried about your history being accurate)
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
