Got my HS boys off to school, and hubby off to work, then took my coffee into the family room and sat down to watch news.....something I NEVER did. Within minutes they were showing what was happening....

Called dh at work and told him, cause I had a baaaad feeling about it. As I spoke to him, the second plane hit the second tower. We both knew.

All I could think about was my kids, at school.

I was nursing my youngest ds and talking on the phone to my best friend. We both had our tvs on and when the second plane hit, we hung up and began to call our families. My Mom and Grandma were at home and they turned the tv on to watch. I called my Dad at work and he told all of his coworkers and everyone went to the lounge to watch it.

I just started working that summer at my current job as a Corrections Officer for the State. DH and I had made arraignments to go on our first date a couple days beforehand. He called me that morning to see if I still wanted to go. We did, but it was weird cause there was hardly anyone out and about. I don't think I grasped what really happened and how it would affect everyone until years later.

My kids were at school and I had just hung out my first load of laundry. I walked in to see the second plane hit the tower, than my mom called to tell me what had happened.

My oldest was in AFROTC and for about a month afterwards, the didn't let the kids wear their uniforms on Thursdays like they normally did. Think the teachers and PTB were scared that they would be seen as an easy target.

I'm late adding my thoughts to this thread, but the 11th is still on my mind & I wanted to share...just like the day President Kennedy was shot--we will always remember where we were when we heard the news.

My father died on Friday, 9-7-11 three days after his birthday. The Pastor couldn't do the funeral on Monday the 10th so we set it for the 11th. That morning I was getting ready for the funeral and no one had their tv's or radio's on. I had to go buy something at the last moment (can't remember what now) and jumped in the car to drive there. I always listened to the "oldies" in the car, but when the raidio came on, there was "a talk show" on--so I switched stations. Which had others talking. I don't know if I switched again or not before I actually heard what they were saying. When I got home I called my mother, cousin and daughters to tell them to turn on the TV. Later, it was hard to pull away from the television, but I had to go. I didn't know anything about the pentagon and Flight 93 until the next day. Just couldn't believe that this was happening........
