Our neighbors had a horrible scare last night...
when their son and/or stepson was involved in an accident.
My dh and kids went out of town to pick up oldest ds' friend and coming back the "big" bridge was backed up with traffic at a standstill. There were five fire trucks present and a white pickup truck with a trailer hooked up to it over on its' side. There was a mower or small tractor laying further down the highway. Dh thought that the truck looked like our neighbors' son's truck, but wasn't sure. He couldn't see any victims because the fire trucks were positioned so that no one could see. The ambulance was caught up way in the distance and trying to get there. Anyway, dh went over to ask our neighbor where Ryan was and told him about the truck. Ryan's Dad called the company that his son works for thinking it was someone else and called his gf who was coming through that way from work out of town. She looked at the truck when she went by and thought it was someone else. When they finally put two-and-two together, they realized that it was indeed Ryan who is 19 and then she couldn't get to him due to the traffic. She could see the accident, but couldn't reach him which about drove her crazy!
To make a long story shorter, he was airlifted to a bigger hospital unconscious. His family still wasn't contacted! He called his Dad from the hospital ER in another town once he reached consciousness and said that he was okay. The trailer jack-knifed and at one point spun around and was riding along next to his truck! The truck flipped over and over and Ryan was thrown out of the back window of the truck.
I called my parents and told them and we all prayed a lot! Anyway, I went next door this morning when their cars came back and Ryan is safely home in bed! He ended up with no stitches, broken bones, or internal injuries...just a little road rash! It was a miracle for sure 'cause he could have easily died from the crash or he could have been thrown into the water off of the tall bridge and since he was unconscious, could have drowned unless someone was brave enough to jump in after him! I found out that he didn't have a seatbelt on so I hope that his Dad reams him out for that after the shock has worn off some! I could have lost the boy that I throw snowballs at in winter!
One cool thing about this kid is he once saved my oldest son's life! We didn't know Ryan at the time, but they both went to a summer program done through the elementary school where they went bowling, skating, swimming, etc. for two weeks. Well, on a beach trip my son was caught up in a riptide and was being hauled out to sea and started yelling for help. The so-called chaperones were laughing and talking on shore and not watching these little kids. My son couldn't get back, but Ryan heard him. He had a float and swam out and together they managed to get back to shore. Needless to say, my son didn't go back to the summer program and I gave them an earful!
I just wanted to share...so glad that this kid is okay...couldn't sleep last night worrying. His parents look like h*ll!

A wonderful miracle!!
