I Just Left Facebook
Just got tired of the owners controlling my privacy. It wasn't private in the least. And I'm tired of all the information.
I'll probably go back and check it out in about a month to see if it's changed any more. But I think I'm done for a while.
Now I'll have more time for surfing FV!

I've been contemplating this too QM. I connect with family a lot on FB, and the kids periodically tell me how to lock up my info. when new FB measures come out to eradicate privacy. Still, I feel I am losing the battle and not so sure it's worth it. I think I'll just start a 3 way email conversation with my daughters through my regular email account. Will save the hassle of wondering if FB is going to publish everything I say and do.

I doubt I'll quit. There are too many people that I keep up with via Facebook. I don't like the changes they are making, but it's a free website and if I want to participate I've got to play by their rules.

I agree Tigergirl;
I keep up with most of my family on FB
I hate all of the changes that they keep making. But if I want to stay in touch with all of the family it is the easiest and cheapest way to do so.

Its very irritating to me that if you have a private comment only your friends can see, and they "like" it, everyone who's friends with them can now see your "private" comment.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I could be wrong, but I think there used to be a setting where you could control what was shared with your friends and what wasn't. If I commented on someone else's status, only our mutual friends would be able to see it. If I deleted the little blurb from my wall, then none of my friends could see it. Now ALL my friends and ALL their friends can see everything we do.
What I also don't get is that even when you go 'offline' so that people can't see that you're on FB, ANYTHING you do will still be posted on the top-righthand corner. Therefore, EVERYONE will ALWAYS know when you're on and commenting or checking like.An obstacle is what comes up when you lose sight of your goal.

I don't have anything on the top right hand corner. I don't know what you guys are talking about!

So what's the big deal? Everyone knows, or SHOULD know, that anything you put on the internet, ANYWHERE, isn't private. Period. Everything you post can be traced back to you by someone, somewhere. Just use a little discretion in what you post, no big deal. I put up a lot of pictures for my friends to see. And their friends, and their friends' friends. Just don't post anything that you wouldn't want your mother or grandmother, or your boss, to see.
