I love it when complex things are simplified so that we can

> • United States Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
> • Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
> • New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
> • National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
> • Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000,000

> Now, remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget.
>
> • Annual family income: $21,700
> • Money the family spent: $38,200
> • New debt on the credit card: $16,500
> • Outstanding balance on credit card: $142,710

Please don't turn this into a political thread, it's suppose to be funny, sorta ummm, well maybe. I don't know, just don't turn it into a political thread.
Thanks.

Wow. That really puts things into perspective. A family living like that wouldn't last long.
His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji, Doctor DaveP, Lord of the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea and Conqueror of the British Empire in Canada in general and Nova Scotia in Particular, uncrowned King of Antarctica .

I think The 385 must be the figure from he last budget showdown. I haven't heard such a number lately.
Btw, for those who aren't watching the news, we are again, for at least the third time this year, at risk of a government shutdown. We are 5 days from the new fiscal year and have now budget. This time, rather than fighting over specific figures, they are fighting over disaster relief funding.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

I could not agree more!
not getting political as per Russ's desires, but we need to cut spending, plain and simple.
I did the math months and months ago and came up with this
The current budget estimates around $1,500,000,000,000.00 deficit for this year. In other words the Government expects to spend that much more than they will make through taxes.
Through these deficits over the years we have managed to rack up $14,429,003,700,000.00 in debt
If this money was in $100 bills it would take 188 ea 50 foot box cars to move just the 2011 deficit alone. It would take over 1800 to move the total debt
If Bill Gates, the richest person in the US (second richest on earth) applied all of his money towards the 2011 deficit it would decrease by 4%. If Warren Buffet, the second richest person in the US (third on earth) applied all of his money towards this debt it would decrease by 3%. If Carlos Slim the richest man on earth applied all of his money towards it, the decrease would be 5%. If the three richest people on earth donated all of their money towards the US’s 2011 budget deficit it would decrease by a measly 12%.
Every man, woman and child in the US owes about 50,000. Each Taxpayer owes about $125,000
Unless something really big changes a huge depression is coming and soon.total debt: $23977.09 updated 04/02/11

okay so if this were my personal finances, what would I or what could I do?
I would try to get another job or increase my income, which in the real situation would mean to raise taxes. I would also cut my personal spending down to bear bones, in the real situation it would be cutting services to all US citizens that are basically not life threatening.
so basically as citizens of this country, we would be paying ALOT more for ALOT less for ALONG time......which is what best case scenario?Judy
