A call for donations.
I haven't talked to Darlene until today. I assumed she had flood insurance and I was dead wrong. While she's fortunate to have a temporary place to live, she has lost her home and many of the contents in it. They were able to salvage some items by bringing them to the second floor of the house (ie. photos).
I hope that some of you are willing to donate to someone that is my friend and who has been a longstanding member in this community.
Donations can be monetary and sent to me via paypal or regular mail, gift cards or items that I can mail to her.
If you prefer to mail to her directly, we can do that, too.
I appreciate anything anyone is able to give.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. It's internationally syndicated through Universal Uclick. Thank you for supporting Frugal Village.

My paypal address is snoel@frugalvillage.com
My home address or Darlene's address (I actually need to double check with her if she is still able to access her post office box), I can provide via private message. It's easier if it goes straight to her, so things aren't mailed twice (and paypal doesn't take their fees), but I am certainly willing to organize and group things together to mail all at once, too.
I will keep a tally, so everyone knows what I've totaled so far through me if you choose to go this route. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I can send a cashiers check through my bank straight to her pretty easily if that's easier for you. PM me please after you double check.

Words can't describe how horrible I feel. I wrongly assumed she had flood insurance and figured when I talked to her next, she would be going through repairs, whatnot.
Fema is helping a bit with relocating, but as you probably know, while it's appreciated there is anything at all, it doesn't begin to dent the loss and costs that are involved.
They are hoping to make some repairs and get the house on the market. I'm hoping it will sell quickly for her, so they can get into another place to call home, start over and get on with their lives with as much normalcy as possible.
Thank you so much for your generosity. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I cannot do much, but I would like to do something. Is there a WalMart in her area? If so, I would like to send her a gift card if you think that would help. Please pm me her mailing address if you think that a WM card would help.
