Save $ when you wash clothes...
I remember my mother having a feature on her washing machine called a sud saver where the water from the washing machine went into the dura tub (which was plugged) and could be pumped back into the washing machine to be reused for a second load. You can no longer buy these washers, BUT I was thinking of putting bucket in the tub and just dumping it back into the washing machine for reuse rather than having it refill with new water...Thoughts?

We used to do this, when we had to haul water for our place. Saved a ton of $$, and we didn't notice a difference in the cleanliness of the clothing.

Get a ringer type washer and you can use the same water. Course it does mean more work. I learned to wash on a ringer washer.

I remember someone having their washer hooked up to their large utility sink in the basement. The water would come out when the washer was spining the clothes. Then the water would be reused to wash another load of laundry.
